Whats infuriating about the 4-2-4 is not that you can't defend against it ..

You can be in a fairly defensive formation as it is - you 1-0 up with 20 min left - the AI will swap to the 4-2-4 and you'll hit tactics ..

.. While your waiting for the AI to actually give you the chance to make your changes despite the ball going out of play 4 times .. the very next attack the AI launches they score ..

Its the immediate effect of it thats the problem - ok, once you switch to your counter you can snuff it out .. but its the samba dancing before you get the chance to change it thats the crapper - 4 times in the last 5 games my team has played I've been a victim of it (in games I've dominated) .. tactics or not - there is nothing you can do about that ..

Again .. if its so god-damned effective why not play like that from the off .. no .. it only kicks in when the human team throws the cat amongst the pidgeons and scores .. whoops, AI needs a goal - best go to silly unrealistic mode

I'd hate to think how hard the game would be if all the teams used 4-2-4 from the start of the matches. I'd lost 95% of my games.

I went down 2-1 after 75 mins. All out attack. They have 15 shots, 6 on target, 9 off, I had 6 shots, 2 on target, 4 or so off.

Switch to 4-2-4

15 real time seconds later I get a continuous "highlight" (I play in Key) of THREE chances all of which were screwed by my players missing (despite having one of them having finishing and composure of 16 and 14) them all despite having no pressure.

Of course, after that I make zero chances and the game goes right through 9 minutes of gametime without any "key", even though if it was reversed they would have "key" for the whole time and would have scored 3 times.

I moved my wingers up to play a 4-2-4 from the start of the game pre-kickoff. Sheff Utd are equal 1st on the table.

4-2-4 takes it first loss in the replay, after borough score on a counter mere seconds after having a player sent off (literally in the same "key" highlight moment). Instead of shooting, we backpassed to the DC from the free kick, they dallied, lost control and had their first shot saved, the rebound in the goal taking into the penalty area and shot round the keeper.

We were AWAY, and had 11 shots (1 on target /o\) to 6.

Possession 50/50..

Our keeper played *****, theirs was super.

Them 18 shots, 8 on target, us 16 shots, 5 on target.

About 424....

All you have to do is exploit it. 424 means all out attack. Am I right? Yes. This means their defence will be looking to get up forward as well. When facing stronger teams doing this, I will of course shut up the shop. But against weaker teams, it is quite different. I have lots of attack minded midfielders in my teams as well as defence minded ones. So I have centre backs and one defensive mid, all three as defensive as can be. My full backs will be looking to get forward, and the rest? 3 up front and one att. mid. This way I can pop more goals in while they focus on their attack!
