I'm Milan in my first season and I got off to an absolute flyer with Kaka and Pirlo scoring and laying on the assists.
Problem is that now I can seem to get that same consistency and Gilardino, Oliviera, inzaghi and Ronaldo couldn't hit a ping pong ball with a tennis racket...
I'm playing Gilardino up front with Oliviera. Gilardino is a target man receiving the ball into feet, but still refuses to score.
I've got Falcao coming in next season to strengthen the side but wondered if anybody had an idea on how to release goals from a decent forward line.
I play in Italy with Sampdoria and I have noticed that using a particular instruction for TM supply (i.e. ball to feet) stops working in a few games. I do not know whether it is related to AI countering the tactic successfully, or my TM loses something. To deal with it I set all instructions for TM on mixed (i.e. Mixed Supply, no specific instructions like "cross aim TM" etc.) and rotate two players in the position every few games. When one of them catches a goal run (or gets 8 and above in every game) I keep him until i clearly see he is covered. To check it I look at stats after every game, and when I see that his pass completion and shots on goal drop, I rotate.
One other thing i have noticed is that using TM is not very effective if I play attacking tactic. Most likely it is the case because there is not enough space near box, so using TM makes make attack one-dimensional as all players try to find him when joining attack.
i am playing AS roma and using a TM. Before i decide the way the TM is supplied i check the opossition defenders( jumping heading and positioning). If they are weak you should supply to head otherwise set it to mixed. if your TM is man marked by a strong defender enable the position swap with the other ST.
I do use a target man, but I set his supply etc. based on his preferred moves (so if Gilardino likes to receive the ball into feet, that's what he gets.)
I dont know what formation you use, but play two stikers with side arrows and Kaká as AMC with forward runs and run with ball on often.
Watch how the strikers drag their markers out wide creating a gap in the centre through which Kaká will burst through having a one-on-one. So awesome to see Kaká with the ball at his feet
I also did hit a dry spell after around 1.5 seasons, turned out I needed more free roles/hold up balls/through balls and forward runs to get more people involved and create more space, strikers go on dry spells but if you play well your midfielders will pitch in
