It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Arsenal free flowing style fm07: possible discussion

Hello everyone im currently playing as arsenal and parallel to real life i am just about staying in the top four because of my mission to play the perfect football played by arsenal during the unbeaten season, beginning of 04-05 season and 1st half of 02-03 season. I have looked at other threads on how arsenal play and none seem to work so i just want everyone on the forums who is a lover of beautiful football to come together to finally create the free flowing football arsenal are capable of in the game and how to implement them in the game.
The key components of arsenal's play that we need to implement in the game :
.one touch passing moves
.releasing the fast striker
.getting wingers to cut in
.getting fullbacks to go foward

Arguments that frequently come up about arsenal in fm 2007 are do arsenal play slow or quick tempo and what exact formation and arrows to use, also whether to use playmaker or targetman and where to focus passing and finally global mentality or any other suggested mentality theory.
.Potential signings to fit the arsenal way
Any post or ideas will be appreciated. Thanks

On The Deck works quite well and plays pretty nice football. It was designed to play like Arsenal, so you may wanna check that out.

It's the only way to play the game!
And I've recreated it beautifully imo, played it the 1st season and WON every cup, apart from league cup, so it's successful too. And that's without a single signing.

-----GK-
RB--CB-Cb--LB
-------------
----CM-CM----
AMR--------AML
FW FW
Both full backs and wingers have Farrows going forward 1 line, and the CM on the right has a diagonal barrow to the middle, 1 line depth.

I also go against the grain, by playing a Short passing game, with a QUICK tempo, as this is how I see Arsenal play IRL. IRL it's more 10 mins slow, 10 mins quick, repeat, but I canna be bothered fiddling with the tactics that often

http://img524.imageshack.us/my.php?image=realfa0.jpg

Try those And I can guarantee you'll love the way you play, great speed and tempo.

Give your wingers quie a lot of Creative Freedom, plus the fact they're so far up the pich anyway, and you'll see them cut inside a lot anyway. Beaware, this formation is weak if it goes a goal down, as heads drop and players lose there confidense and fluidity, but I normally find myself 4-0 at half time

Note tho the playmaker is ticked, I generally don't play with one, I can't seem to get the best out of Fabregas no matter what I do :/
Tips anyone?

if you go to fm-britain there is a 4-4-2 that plays wonderful free-flowing football created by the next diaby if you want to check that out.

high tempo will result in more forward balls according to SI?

and the tips says play short passing with a slower tempo?

or is this wrong?

I'll try it but shorten the passing and lower the tempo last three games of the season for me test it Neil JWD get back to you with results and observations.

Neil JWD it seemed to work quite well with the quick passing but there were alot of long balls and my passing percentage was 67% also didnt create as much as i thought i would. but thanks.

i want people interested in this thread to suggest team instructions that are as close to real life arsenal as possible then finally come up with a formation, shape and arrows to complement instructions.

I wouldn't lower the tempo tbh, ruins the point, and ofc, every player in my team has personalised instructions, my FB's have direct passing, for diagonal raking balls across the pitch, while my CB's have it v.short with no Freedom, so that they always lay the ball off to a more creative, FB or DM near them.

And it'll take more than 3 games for a team to get used to ANY system, never mind become proficient at it.
