I used to live down the road from colin addison (former yeovil manager) and he was telling me about how much pressure is put on the manager during every second of a game. He said making just one player adjusting the way they play during the game can heavily affect how games are won and lost.

Hey Paul, don't you think a football manager is supposed to spend quite some time finding an optimal settings, regardless whether it's real world or just computer game? Management is not about following unique path, it's about thinking, trying, and learning. If you don't want to do it, this is not a game for you (no offense). But it has nothing to do with SI making a game unplayable. Ask anybody who has anything to with management, and they will tell you that when you start a new project all you have is your skills and experience. That's good to start with but not nearly enough to succeed.

You can easily switch back to FM06, use Diablo tactic and win 95% of the games. What's the point though?

Incorrect. Mentality = position in the game, so one word "deeper" will tell a player to change his "mentality". And actually, if you have developed a really solid tactic (not downloaded - developed, so that you know why each slider is in particular position), in most cases you don't really need to tweak during matches. Trust me, this is when real fun starts - when you feel whether you need to change anything or not.

Paul has a fair point here.

This new 8.0.1 patch is a total joke.

It ain't about the tactics. You can easily create TOP QUALITY chances .. 1:1.. shots inside the box... etc etc... <- That means that the tactic is actually working!!! ... but when the opposing goalkeepers seem to play like stonewall than... well.. simulation becomes rubbish.

ie. I had 63 againts Real Madrid in Championship semifinal. 39 of them were on target (quality shots not 40 yard etc etc)... and suprise the opposing team has 16 shots in total. (10 shots on goal) and end up winning 4-1. <- There is your simulation right there... absolute rubbish. This being just most shocking example how realistically the game works.

...and I think what Paul was saying is that he would "tweak" his own tactic if the this whole slider system would actually work! I doubt that even SI team do know what they actually do in the game.

Even Paul C admitted that the game is "cheating"...trying to keep scores down etc, etc. So, by saying this the whole "tweaking" becomes joke itself.

...and yes Paul did have an valid point.
