I've just bought Aguero, the eighth striker for my squad, and I'm in a pickle as where to go from here. I just about managed before, only using four as strikers, and in a rotation (Van Persie, Adebayor, Bendtner and Vela), with Eduardo, Menez, and Walcott playing as wingers. Now however I've tipped the balance and I'm considering new formations and radical changes to my squad (I usually play with a standard 4-4-2 by the way).
I've also only sold one player, Rosicky, for 25mil, and I'm in the january transfer window of the second season. I've also got Song, Flamini, Diarra, Lulinha, Saivet, Sakho, Wijnaldum, Lansbury, Dalla Vale, Camacho, Nordtveit, Senderos, etc either in the reserves or out on loan, so they are another consideration as well.
But, my two questions are, a. What formation should I use to best accomodate the squad I have, what is the strongest possible set up?...and b. Who should I sell?
(Oh and I've also got Eduardo as my vice captain, after Gilberto - so although selling them seems to make sense, it might upset a few players)
(Also, what is the best way to sell players who have no interest surrounding them?)
Play Van Persie on the left instead of up front.
Rotate 3 strikers to player up front (i'd go for Aguero, Vela and Menez).
Keep Eduardo for back-up in case of injuries but play him every so often.
Wait until Bendtner improves, give him a few games maybe even put him out on loan.
Sell Walcott or again loan him out.
Either sell Adebayor or keep him as another back-up.
Lol. I know what you're going through. I had Aguero, RVP, Walcott, Vela, Bojan, Saivet, Fred & Bendtner all in my squad at the same time. Bojan, Vela & Saivet were well developed and it was getting really hard to rotate!
Anyway, your pickle. Firstly, the strikers I would get rid of are Adebayor, Eduardo. That should trim it down. Menez is much better on the wings. So is Walcott. So you can count both of them out as strikers. That leaves you with RVP, Aguero, Vela, Bendtner. Not hard to rotate those guys I'm sure.
My starting XI would be:
GK: Akinfeev
LB: Clichy
RB: Sagna
CB: Barzagli (on the left)
CB: Toure (on the right)
DM: Denilson/Gilberto (depends on who you play)
LM: Fernandez
RM: Hleb
CM: Fabregas
ST: Aguero (on the left)
ST: RVP (on the right)
I'd get rid of Diaby as well because Denilson & Banega are/get better. You should be easily able to rotate getting rid of the 3-4 I've mentioned. In the easier league matches, FA Cup matches & CC matches I'd play:
GK: Lehmann
LB: Traore
RB: Eboue
CB: Gallas
CB: Djourou
ML: Menez
MR: Walcott
CM: Banega
CM: Denilson (let him sit back a little)
ST: Bendtner
ST: Vela
That should be enough to win against most teams. Also, look to offload Gilberto & Gallas. Instead, get someone like Veloso in. He can play DM, CM AND CB. So incase you have a couple of defenders injured, you can easily put Veloso there and Denilson can move into the DM position. Also, I see a "wnt" sign infront of Eboue's name. Get rid of him if you get a decent price. Get Lorenzo De Silvestri instead. He's young and very good. Also, let mad Jens go and get another GK in (maybe someone young?).
That squad of yours looks VERY similar to mine in my last save!!
I guess I'm going to sell Gallas, Gilberto, Lehman, and then two of either Van Persie, Eduardo or Adebayor in the summer (at the moment I much prefer Adebayor). Hopefully the squad will be slightly more managable then.
