Right, and no-one could ever see Wigan or Wimbledon there either.

When I said taken the club as far as possible I didnt even mean it so much as in what league they were. The board were really annoying me, all i wanted was the training facilities done so the club could develop a bit, they had promised me for 2 years it would get done but never got round to it. Now that its done though I realise the board are willing to fork out, and that I can take the club further by developing the facilities even more |

Bad mood Michal?
hercules knows the situation best, and knows better than us when/if it's right to move on. In my experience you get top facilities sooner or later, the problem is related to lack of income due to too small stadium. If you're restricted to a few thousand and it seems impossible to expand it, it generally is hard to become a top flight club fighting for European spots.
Good luck herc. KUTGW

As promised, my training facilities were upgraded, and I was given a healthy transfer budget of £3m. I sold my left back to Wigan for £2m and released a few players who had been with me from the Conference (I never thought it could be so hard to say goodbye). Signed a right back on loan, a centre half and a South African midfielder from Derby. Also brought in a 17 year old midfielder for £800k, a club record transfer fee. Ecstatic about this lad as he really is phenomenal.
Started the season well, but still lack the consistency to be challenging at the top of the table. The potential is clearly there though, 5-1 hammerings of Wigan, Cardiff and Forest are clear signs of this. Come Christmas we were 9th.
A good League Cup run saw us reach the Quarter finals with victories over Dirty Leeds and Middlesbrough. A dream Qtr final away at Newcastle provided the most thrilling match of my career so far, 5-5 at full time we were unluckily beaten 6-5 aet. In the FA Cup 4th round we took Tottenham to a replay but were beaten 2-0.
In January I sold my 2nd best striker to Atletico Madrid for £4m and brought in a loan striker. Bought a new left-back and 3 former Premiership midfielders, to add a bit of experience and depth to my very young squad. Looked good money for a play-off spot until March, when I lost 5 games in a row. Main problem was only having one quality striker, although my two first choice central midfielders chipped in with 23 goals between them.
Finished a respectable 14th, which I wasn’t too disappointed with, although I hope to be at least in the top half next year.

Really good read so far herc, and just think you could jump ship, but on the other hand you are possibly one season away from taking acc. stanley to the prem, and you thought league two survival at the 1st attempt would be an achievement!
Good luck mate.

KUTGW!!
It's your game...but try to stick with the minnows. I think you'd find that jumping ship hastily would be a decision you'd come to regret.

Season 2012/13
My stadium was expanded this summer, which crippled the club financially and left me with a transfer budget of only £200k. Signed a brilliant 17 year old striker for free, and another striker who I had on loan about 4 seasons ago for £120k. Also signed a quality centre half for £50k, who should help to tighten up my leaky defence.
Began the season well and my team looked a more solid unit this season. The former loan striker forged a good partnership with my star striker, and the new centre half made an immediate impact. The first half of the season was blighted by injuries, but still 8th place going in to the new year provided a good platform to build on. No signings in January as I felt that my squad, if injury free, was good enough to mount a play-off challenge. Plus I had no money.
Not much to report in the Cups, 3rd and 2nd round exits in the FA and League Cup respectively to lower opposition. Finally got my best players fit, and the team looked tremendous. Defensively we were better than ever, and my star striker was banging in the goals as usual, becoming the club record goal-scorer in the process. Amazingly, I had the 2nd best defensive record in the league, and we ended up finishing 6th making the Championship Play-Offs for the first time ever.
Play-Off Semi Final 1st Leg against Ipswich couldn’t have went better, as we cruised home 3-0. Despite a 3-1 Defeat in the 2nd Leg we were in the Final against that ragged bunch from Sunderland. A full house at Wembley watched an entertaining 2-2 draw, which eventually went to penalties. Once again luck was on our side in a shootout, as my Goalkeeper saved Sunderland’s 5th penalty to give us a 4-3 victory and a place in the Premiership.

Ah I forgot to mention, in March I agreed the sale of my star defender to Southampton for £5m. I'd had him for 5 years, and he was touted in the press as the brightest defender in England. I only sold him because the club were in debt after the stadium expansion.
So obviously when I saw my Premiership transfer budget of £5m I was pleased, knowing that I would have another £5m to come from his sale. 25% of the sale (£1.2m) went to Scunthorpe though, and amazingly my transfer budget was reduced to £3.8m
The board, despite £12.5m in the bank, had decided the only transfer money would be from the sale of this defender. The stingy b*stards can kiss my hairy ballsack if they think I'm ever selling one of my best players again just to keep the club in the black. |
