Really looking forward to Europe, and since it's the EURO Cup, perhaps there's a chance of getting through a few rounds

Stadium expansion btw \o/ 1888 new seats. Should be about 5200 capacity by xmas. They expanded the south stand they tell me. Whether that is possible I have no idea.

Rated as 174th in Europe. Scotland on 8th

Ochilview's south stand

bit of room for expansion

Season 2011/12

Stenhousemuir - Scottish Premier League

Board still wanted us to battle against relegation, but the fans wanted to qualify for Europe again. My own goal was to copy last season's 3rd place, and qualify for Europe.

A fair number of players came and went. Bought 8 players for 310K. 3 became regulars, and 2 appared more and more as the season passed by. Two quite promising youngsters. Sold 10 players for 925K. Only two of were regulars.

Had a very good start, and was leading after 8 games with 6-2-0. Then the topscorer last 3 season got injured for 5 months, and our very promising striker McPoof got injured for 2 months. This hit us hard, and we only won 1 of the next 11 games. Towards the end of the season with thinner fixture list form got back on track. Fought hard with Hearts for 3rd spot, and with Celtic for a brief period about 2nd. After beating Hearts twice in the close-season we ended 3rd with 65 points, 8 ahead of Hearts, 9 off Celtic and a massive 28(!) behind untouchable Rangers. They won with 6 games remaining. Stenhousemuir were ready for Europe again

We entered the EURO Cup in the 1st proper round unseeded, where we drew Dinamo Kiev. We were extremely lucky and beat them 4-2 both home and away, despite being heavily outshot by 42-19.
Got Athletic, HSV, So'ton and Udinese in the group stage. We didn't stand a chance, and only got a point at home to So'ton. Hopefully we'll do better next time around.

Did well in the Scottish Cup for once. Got Rangers in the semi-final. We played well, and in an even match Rangers scored the winner on overtime. Argh!

Scottish Premier League: 3rd P38 W20 D5 L13 74-53 P65
EURO Cup: Group stage: 5th P4 W0 D1 L3 2-8 P1
Scottish Cup: Semi-final. Rangers (N) (SPL) 1-2
League Cup: 3rd Rnd. Motherwell (A) (SPL) 1-3

I think we have established ourselves as the 3rd strongest team in Scotland now, although we perhaps need luck on the injury front to stay there. We're scoring enough, but if we are to challenge the Glasgow-duo we need to tighten up in the back and lose the erratic form spells. Hope we can close the gap somewhat next season.

Financially it was a great season. We made over 4M, and our bank account currently stands at close to 8M. Many of the team's indispensable players' contracts runs out in two seasons, and none of them want to sign new ones. If that persists there will be big problems in the future. We have 5-6 very good youngsters, and many of them have gotten quite a few matches under their belt, and will become even more important in the coming season.

With my sudden and abrupt change of condition :o I haven't played much the last few weeks, but almost managed to finish the season. Since I'm leaving tomorrow for Xmas I'm putting up a mid-season update (kinda).

Season 2012/13

Stenhousemuir - Scottish Premier League

I'm beginning to think there is something wrong with the expectation cause they're at expected even though the season's not over, and they haven't changed despite our success. Either way board wants to stay clear of relegation (this one puzzles me), and the fans want Europe.

Celtic was after our DM captain for the entire season. Didn't want to sell as he was really good, but when they put 4M on the table it was impossible to say no. 6 others went out the door for practically nothing.
7 players in for 950K (plus a good bunch of soon-to-pay-off costs). A creative AMC that's been very on and off for 100K, 18yo MR that's gotten quite a few matches by now for 350K, new DL for 40K as my young promising lad still can't jump. Got a new midfield anker for 100K that's been decent, and an 18yo striker for 350K. He was supposed to be backup, but has played really well.

In: 7 (950K)
Out: 7 (4.1M)

Started good in the league, but form soon became inconsistent. Went unbeaten for 8, but that's about it. Never found a proper form. 25 games in we're 4th with 37 points. a mile off the Glasgows and 5 behind Dundee Utd. Four clubs are fighting for 3rd. We're scoring enough (45), but conceding too many (34).

This time we entered the EURO Cup in the 2nd QR. We were seeded and got Zilina. Beat them 2-0 away and 3-0 home. Undeeded for the 1st Rnd, but were fairly lucky and got Basel. All goalies were injured for the first tie, but we played a blinder and beat them 5-1 on their grass! Reality check for the rematch as they beat us 2-0. Still we were through with 5-3, and drew Feyenoord, Marseilles, Braga and Sparta Prague in the group stage.

Feyenoord (A): They were the better side, and beat us 3-1, quite comfortably.
Braga (H): We had to win to stand a chance. Was a firework of a game, and we won 3-2. Could have gone both ways.
Sparta Prague: We needed a win here too to get through. Was down 2-0 after half an hour, but took control of the game and turned it to 3-2. They then scored again, before McPoof won the match for us in the 84th. 4-3 victory \o/
Marseilles: A point would secure us through, but a loss could send us out. 0-1 at half-time, then our young strike-force netted once each, before they equalized on 83.. The poofs up front got one each again in the 85th and 90th securing an impressive 4-2 win, and Stenny through to the knockout stage \o/

Got Monaco, but haven't played them yet. With our current form I'll be surprised by anything less than a humiliating trouncing though.

Out in the League Cup at first hurdle, but still in the Scottish Cup (Quarter Final probably to Celtic, away).

Very happy with the European form so far, but dissappointed with the league performances. The goal is 3rd spot again, but we need more than one wins in a row to achieve it.
Albeit a young team, we should have the quality to close the gap on the Glasgow duo, and get 3rd. Not sure what's wrong tbh. 4 players want to move on though. Have rejected requests for the transfer-list so far. Only chance to keep them is to win something, and soon.
