Does anyone else get it, in there last 5 fixtures you sense the end and your mind wonders a bit. I find myself not caring as much as i had at the start of the season. I just play random players and set everything on fast to get the games over and done with.
Then when the season is done i can't be bothered with the preseason. Especially the friendlies.
Does anyone else come across this or is it just me?

Me too, I take my time in the pre-season. Arrange friendlies against key opposition, or against big teams, as well as making sure that my preferred first 11 is fit for fight and used to the formation. Without a good pre-season I always tend to loose a lot at the start of the season.

For me the season is like driving from Melbourne to Perth. The first 8 hours are interesting and I like to take in all the scenery. The following 2 days are also good, but the final 3 hours is unbearable.

Oh the funniest things happen to me in preseason, I love it! Just today I had an away friendly and one of my men got redcarded for a non-professional foul so it was 10v11. I proceded to score two goals against their none and had two of my man come off the field with injuries in the 86th minute. I had no subs left So I played the rest of the game 8vs11 and gave up only one goal for 8 minutes. Very scrappy team.

Doesn't fit my experience. My ends of seasons are usually cliff-hangers and I love the pre-season, juggling my procession of triallists in friendlies, experimenting with training and tactics and making all the little decisions that will mean so much in the following weeks and months. I can go nine or more hours of game time between the last competitive fixture of one season and the first of another.
