We haven't had one of those for 2 years, so about time we make a new one: The FM Superstitions
We've all been there doing that. We all have those strange developed penchants on some weird things we do believe make a difference when playing the game.
For me it's:

- Never save or quit a game whilst on a winning streak. The game knows it and is going to punish you with a random defeat streak when you come back to play. Better to save&quit on a loss.
- Creative forward always has to be a left footed FLC.
- Save and exit the game after seasonal update is completed, you've made the squad appraisal and decided which are the main needs-targets for the new season.
- Though I love attacking football IRL I always go ultradefensive in CM/FM (much to the clanners disgust when they face my superkeepers ).
- Late night sessions are way better than day off ones. When I play a day off session I'm sure I won't achieve anything good.

That's all I can't think for now. How about yours?

on the last game, during a match i put the cursor behind the opposition goal, If i didn't, we didn't score.
but now, i find we win far more points if i put the cursor on the play button by the side of the screen.

- I always have very intensive training schedules so that my players can last the full 90 minutes. Despite the fact that I've never noticed a difference in full-time 'condition'.
- I always have at least 3 keepers on the books so that if one is injured, I can still have 2 in the match squad. Despite the fact that #3 will never get a match. Ever.
- If we take the lead/dramatically equalise, I will only change tactics after agonising over it. We've clearly equalised due to the tactics, rather than the opp GK booting the ball into his own net. Let's not tempt fate by changing our game plan.
- I have never and will never win a penalty shootout. Therefore, i will do whatever necessary to avoid them, even if this involves playing 0-0-10 for the last 5 minutes. (Tipping)

I have one superstition. During a match, if the opposing team is attacking (and I play commentary only - never 2d match) I never, ever, press the button to change tactics or make substitutions. More often than not the opposing team scores against me. It's something I've never gotten out of my system since the days of 01/02...

If I'm in a winning run I sure as hell wanna save the game. I've just lost too many good runs to bluescreens and CM/FM error messages I guess.
I always watch 2d split screen with match stats.
Never make subs in the 1st half unless somebody is injured. Even if a guy gets a 3 he'll survive the 1st half.
I always spend way too much time checking out various stats in the game.
Always watch extended highlights so I can see stuff go terribly wrong early enough to perhaps make the necessary changes.
I seem to concede a goal before the 1-minute mark way too often.
I usually don't make the 3rd sub before 75mins. Do it after 60, and you can be sure the heart of the team breaks both legs and arms after 61.
After I've won an important match and go to save, I sometimes won't dare to watch the screen as I'm afraid I'll jinx the game, and the dreaded bluescreen will send me into a violent rage

When I first saw the title of the thread I thought to myself, I dont really have any of these. However it's become clear now I do...
Firstly, couldn't agree more about never saving on a winning streak, but on the other hand I hate saving on a defeat.
Late night sessions are so so so much better than daytime sessions.
Another thing is that I will never sign a player who's position is only ML or MR. AML or AMR is fine, as is MLC or MRC. I just feel they won't fit into my team.
Never make 1st half subs unless player is injured, rarely ever make half time subs to be honest. Likewise I will never ever sub my goalkeeper in a competitive match, barring injury of course. If the keeper is having a nightmare, he can just grin and bear it until the 90 mins are up.
I will never play a game with the cursor actually on the 2d pitch.
I'll also never make subsitutions when I'm defending a corner, things always seem to go wrong when this happens. I think alot of teams in real life adopt this approach aswell.
