Default The Blue Brazil are not morose South Americans.....

The Blue Brazil are mighty Cowdenbeath of the Scottish Third Division. After 2 game save crashes I have made it through 3 seasons that I thought I would share. Running all England, Ireland, and Scotland divisions and a medium database.

The Blue Brazil play their home ties at Central Park which holds 4,370 (1,431 seated). Their training facilities are basic. Their primary rivals, I'm told, are Raith and East Fife (Ian might confirm this).

my first three seasons follow:

Season 05/06 - Scottish Third Division

The board give me a transfer budget of 4K and a bank balance of 7K. A look at the roster shows a surprise of two upper division strikers on loan. My scout comes back with several options and I snap up 3 players on a free. Don't know why...but Stenny want a reserve fullback for 1K and I let him go.

Board expect a mid-table finish as do the fans. A fairly easy campaign, to be honest (almost too easy) sees me gain promotion fairly early and I run away with the title. My lads show a great amount of fight...and seem to either enjoy coming from behind or waxing teams by 3 goals. We sweep our rivals East Fife in 4 easy games. \o/

P36 W27 D6 L3 87pts Pos.1 - Promotion to Div. 2

Ch.Cup - Easy draws see us to the semis. We lose to Queen of Sth. 1-2
League Cup - Rd. 2 away to Kilmarnock 0-3
Scottish Cup - Rd 3 home loss to Morton 0-4

Highlights...Mr. Studfinn striker scores for fun and bags 31 in 33. 8.06 rating for year and D3 POY honors. D2 here we come.

Season 06/07 - Scottish Division 2

The board and fans expect us to fight bravely...blah blah blah. The pundits put us as least favorites. I get a 10K transfer budget which is useless because the only players willing to sign are on a free.

We bring in 3, including a solid DM and a striker to replace my stud loaner from last season who refused to come back or sign, despite being in the same division now as his home club. 7 players leave for a total of 1K (6 were given a free).

Once again the lads show tremendous fight. This year wasn't as easy but was equally as suprising. We went into the final day tied for 1st...drew with Forfar and backed into the title when Partick lost away to St. Johnstone. I'm wondering if we're the Weymouth of Scotland.

P36 W23 D6 L7 Pos.1 - Champions...promotion to Div. 1
Ch. Cup - Rd. 2 home loss to D2 Morton 1-3
Lge. Cup - Rd. 1 away loss to D2 Morton 0-2 (starting to hate The Ton)
Scottish Cup - Rd. 4 away loss to SPL Dundee Utd (and a big payday \o/)

Highlights - Mr. Studfinn striker nets 22 in 28 and garners Div. 2 POY award with a 8.25 avg. rating. Receive several high dollar offers but turn them all down.

Season 07/08 - Scottish First Division

Board and fans again just want us to somehow survive. I figure a mid-table finish would be reasonable. The board are becoming more generous and give me 84K to spend on transfers. I bring in 5 players for 55K as well as another coach. 22 players leave...all on a free. An old striker retires but he has coaching credentials so I keep him on as a coach. Somehow can't add a scout since the board will only let me pay 30/wk and they all want 300.

We are slapped to reality for the first month and sit 9th after the first 9 games. After that, the new players start to gel and we run off 7 straight without a league defeat (5 wins). The rest of the season finds us mid-table and we finish a very respectable 3rd (up from 5th on the final day).

Cups kinda sucked arse except two straight League Cup ties against SPL teams that padded the coffers. We managed a historic win away to Aberdeen.
Ch. Cup - Rd. 2 loss away to D2 Berwick 0-2
Lg. Cup - Qtr. Final loss away to Kilmarnock 1-3 (team record for gate receipts and attendance). Also...beat East Fife 4-0 in R1 \o/
Scottish Cup - R3 loss away to SPL Hearts 1-4

Highlights - Injuries held back Mr. Studfinn Striker but he managed to get his first cap for his homeland. He bags 13 in 25 and a 7.53 rating. New striker signed on a free was a pleasant surprise as Mr. Flintstone bags 18 in 34 and gets selected to first team select.

Several high dollar offers come in for my stud DC and DL as well as for Studfinn...but I resist the urge and keep the team intact. Our training facilities are shyte and are the primary reason we can't attract top signings. The stingy board wont allow the upgrade. Assman gets Sheff Wed and Bolton from the Eng. Ch. to play friendlies and for the first time in my expererience we almost sellout a preseason game and make money!! No job offers for this yank...although I would have turned them down.

cheers from the land of Haggis (yum) and frozen pitches.

Aye, many times...both to watch the Blue Brazil, last time was last year, and to watch the stock car racing.

It's a tip
