Now I haven’t been a member on here long, although I have only ever played this game, or previous versions of it as a lower League manager, and played pretty much to the rules you guys played to, although, since joining here, I have started using my scouts to look at players I find myself.

Anyway, using the tried and trusted National Lottery Bonus ball system, I ended up with good old Northwich Vic’s, in the ECN. They had a pretty decent team when I took over, but an enormous wage bill and a huge debt, meant that I either built a platform for the future or tried to get them up with the squad I had. I choose the latter. Selling only 2 players at a £16,000, and bringing in three free transfers. We had a good squad, we should be ok, fm2006 couldn’t be much different to the 05 version. Wrong! 2 points from a possible 21 say me rooted to the bottom, one of my scouts and my only coach walked out, I was losing a fortune every month, and my players didnt like me. we were poor up until Christmas, during which time I had the pleasure of 2 votes of confidence, we started stringing a few results together after Christmas, although an 8-0 drubbing by Moor Green had me considering my position. We rallied a bit afterwards though, and with 6 wins from my final 7 games, finished a respectable 7th

P 42, W 17, D 10, L 15 F 53 A 50 and 61 points

A humbling in the 3rd qualifying round of the FA cup by Solihull and the 3rd qualifying round of the Trophy compounded a miserable season.

After much soul searching during the summer, and the realisation that if I didn’t act soon, we would go bust, we had a bit of a fire sale, with 17 players going for £450k, and 19 coming in for a total of 12k. it was a very busy summer, with my team of 4 scouts scanning the length and breath of the country. I wasn’t expecting much this season, and I wasn’t disappointed, we never put 3 wins together all season, finishing in 11th place, having won and lost 16 games and drawn the other 10, and finishing up on 58 points. The one major plus point being, I had unearthed a striker who couldn’t stop scoring, banging in 18 in his 16 games. I actually made it to the 2nd round proper of the FA Cup, before going out after a reply to Mansfield, who then went on to draw Liverpool away in the third round! and made it to the last 8 of the Trophy, before losing on penalties to darlington, who went on to win it. Although the most bizarre moment of the season occurred when I got offered the Scottish National Team job, although on the grounds of realism, I turned it down.

With 5 players leaving for £40k and 7 joining for a huge outlay of £1k, Season three saw us again start poorly, losing 4 of my first 6 matches, but then we started playing. A 26 game unbeaten run seen us storm to the top of the league, with my super striker blasting in 42 goals in 36 games.
We eventually finished the season as Champions with 3 games to spare

W 25 D 9 L 8 F 94 A 61 and with 84 points.

The cups say us exist at the 1st round proper in both completions, Forest Green beating me in the trophy, and Doncaster rattling 5 past us in the FA Cup.
I am well engrossed in the game now, although, with a 2,500 capacity stadium, which we don’t own, and not a lot of money, I don’t know how far I can take the Vic’s, but I aint leaving, they want me out, they will have to fire me! now to unleash my super striker on the Conference National!

what Jurjev said....

but nice work. And kudos for turning down the Scotland job for the sake of realism.

2008 -2009 saw my first season in the conference National. with the bookies making me 100/1 to get promoted, i really wanted to prove them wrong. having got off to a cracking start winning 5 of my first 8 games, and losing only one, i got a bit over confident, and didnt strengthen the squad in the areas that really needed it, instead keeping loyal with the same squad that got me up, with teh exception of 2 free transfers. a fantastic losing streak of 11 games brought me down to earth with a bump, and although i flirted briefly with the relegation places, i managed to finish the seaon 18th

Pl 46, W 13 D 14 L 19 F58 A73 PTS 53

both cups sucked ass, going out at the first time of asking on both fronts.
