2009 -2010 close season saw me do what i should have done the year before, and totally rebuild my team. with my trusty band of 5 scouts, i scouted the length and bredth of the UK, and after a long summer i had 11 new players, and said goodbye to 14. my youth team had thrown my a gem of a centre half, who made his debut on his 16th birthday, and finished the season with average ratings of 7.9, and my scouts had found two decent looking centre forwards. i laughed in the face of the 80/1 odds the bookies had quoted me, and got off to a flyer, streaking ahead at the top of the table. an injury crisis in the winter months saw my good early season form flounder, and having lost 5 of my last 7 games, finished a disappointing 8th

2010- 2011 came along, and with the arrival of a new centre half to partner my rising teenage star, and a few other players to bulk out my squad, i felt ready for a serious push for promotion. the sale of one of my strikers for £150k allowed me to bring in a replacement and bank a few quid to help me balance the books. a poor start to the season left me in the debths of despair, and i seriously considered resigning, but an unbeaten 26 game streak saw me to the top of the table by mid march. it was very tight at the top, with ourselces, Darlington and stevenage all pushing for the top spot. i lost one and drew 2 of my last three games, leaving me in a disappointing 3rd place in a three horse race.

my two strikers had broke all sorts of records, and my teenage centre half was getting all sorts of offers, but i resisted temptation to cash in on him.

the highlight of my season was beating Nottingham Forest in the 2nd round of the FA cup, but i lost in round three to Torquay united. the LDV and FA trophy both saw early exits, although i wasnt too disappointed/

teh conference playoffs were a nervous affair. i squandered a 4 - 2 aggregate lead in the duying minutes of the semi final against Halifax, before finally winning 3-2 in a penalty shootout, and following a 0-0 draw in the final with stevenage, it was penalties again. we won it 4-3, and we had got promoted!!!

football league here we come. we turned professional during the summer break, and i cant wait to start the new season.

before i discovered Frank, i gave all the teams in conference north and south a number from 1 - 44, in the order they are listed alphabetically, then whatever the bonus number was in the lottery, then thats the team i managed. if the bonus number was 45 - 49, i just used the 6th number. how very dull is that

What happens if 45, 46, 47, 48, and 49 come out?

Frank doesn't have to worry about such eventualities

6 numbers in the lottery, Julian. If no number lower than 45 comes out, that's when we know it's rigged.
