HI
Has anyone else got this problem? I have taken east stirling to the first div but the council keep refusing to allow us to upgrade the stadium (from 700)!!! I have loads of cash (about 4 million) due to my youth policy but cant even get players from the 2nd div to sign 4 me and feel that the lack of stadium must have somthing to do with it because i finished 6th in div 1 last season and have top training facilities.

Anyone else?

Have you seen Firs Park?

It's bound by houses on two sides and a Retail Park on the other two. There's no room to expand it.

IRL East Stirlingshire are negotiating a deal to sell Firs Park with planning permission for between £1.5m and £3m with a view to moving the Club to Grangemouth and changing their name.

Needless to say the locals aren't happy with this...but it's realistic for the Council to throw out planning permission as there's no room.

This bloody game is too realistic at times.

Remind me of the ONE time that I actually succeeded in bringing a LL-team to the European Top and finally was forced to look out for another club for three reasons:

1. it was impossible to move grounds
2. it was impossible to expand the stadium
3. more important: my managerial skills were too bad to cope with a small stadium and the European Top :p

I went the other way with my Billericay 01/02 adventure. Initially the council refused, then relented when I got into the Premier League. I don't know what their ground is like in real life when it comes to room to expand however.
I never heard from the council again, but I when I wanted another increase, I ended up issuing the board an ultimatum. They said they would overlook my outburst "this once", and after fans protesting in my favour, they expanded again.

After a further expansion a season later, the capacity had risen from 3500 in the Conference to 22,500 (all seated) in the Premier League.
When Chelmsford City got promoted to the Conference, they ended up having the best ground in the division.

Then a new chairman took over and sacked me a few months later.

Just shows, that the ultimatum feature DID work in the right circumstance.

In CM03/04 I got Castel di Sangro to Serie A and was refused stadium expansions every inch of the way by the council.

To be fair, with a capacity of 8000 in a town of not many more in the middle of nowhere this was realistic.

Doesn't make it any easier to swallow though.

I've had Firs Park upgraded to a capacity of 1867.

i'm playing with Northwich Vic's at the minute, and having taken them from Conference North to League two, have just found out we cant expand the 2500 cpacaity ground because we dont own it. hugely frustrating, but it looks now like i will have to move on as there is only so far you can go with a 2500 capacity ground. i'm losing money month on month, as there simply arent enough people coming through the gates

Even worse, I keep asking my Gillingham board to do something about the miserly ground capacity. They say 'Sure. Absolutely. 100%' and then they do nothing. I think they must collapse in a fit of giggles when I leave the room
