I wish there were a way to tell the game to start you off with a lower reputation than it currently does.
For example at, the moment you tend to get offered a L2 job pretty early on when you start unemployed (Exeter isn't it?). I want to start a game where even a conference north/south team would think hard about signing me.
It would be an interesting alternative to difficulty levels, i.e some games you could start off as a well respected pro such as Colchester's P*** P******** and leap straight into the middle divisions for your first job without it feeling too unrealistic (not LLM I know but could suit some people).
I, though, would simply love the idea of starting right at the bottom and still have the board wondering why they signed someone with such little experience.

I don't get people's obsession with difficulty levels. If you want to start in League 1, pick a club and start there. If you want to start in the Conference regionals or the EPL, likewise. Invent whatever backstory for yourself that you want.

Reminds me of CM4. It was so bad, I played it that way, that I imagined that I'm a really bad manager and no club would sign me ever. Saved me from playing the game. |

My point is that you have a pre-defined reputation when you start the game. I know the game says you are "unproven" yet will still offer you the exeter job at the drop of a hat.
IRL I am also "unproven" as a manager, yet to this day have never been offered the job as a league manager.
This affects gameplay. For example in my last game, I stated as unemployed and took the Stafford Rangers job. After a mediocre season where I took the team from 4th down to 14th, I was offered the Wrexham L2 job which is unrealistic in my opinion. I believe this is because when I started the game had me down as a more or less L2 standard manager.
I want to have to prove myself at ECN/S level before these kind of offers come in for me.

I would suggest that it is an English League phenomenon in my experience. I didn't get a job offer in Germany in over 6 seasons, despite taking a team from the Regional division to the UEFA cup spots. Been a similar story elsewhere.

Gratch, you're making a problem where none is. Just don't accept a job offer that you think is unrealistic.
The point in starting unemployed is useless anyway, since you'd try and be hired immediately anyway. Asking Frank for a team is the same, and most likely even better because it's not always the same team.

| I can echo that. I'm in my 19th season in Scandinavia (my definition, not the one from the Scandinavians ) and have had a total of 0 joboffers.

It can be even better: Set your nationality as Andorran and you won't even have to worry about your reputation growing at all |

What I am most concerned about starting unemployed is that you don't have to start in Lowest Division. I remember I started as unemployed in my Slovenian save, and I applied to couple of free 2nd division spots and one first division (highest division in SVN). I got accepted at all posts . Now I realise this was done, so everybody cna start as unemployed and get accepted on the level they want, but that is not in LLM spirit. So if you want to start unemployed, I would say, apply only to LD clubs.
