Hi all,
Why is this (beta) patch so quick to be released? Would it not have been a more sensible approach to delay the release of the game itself, correcting as many (of the more obvious and serious) bugs as possible? The game could then have been released nearer the christmas period. Surely the whole idea of a patch is to fix bugs not encountered during initial testing. Either the game was not tested enough, or the game was rushed out with known (possibly serious) bugs within.

Because now, SI can log all the problems found by all the thousands of people playing it, as oppose to a limited testing market which, no matter how extensively they test it, will never be as large as the numbers who buy the game.
No matter how much they try, there will always be bugs. Consider how many parts there are to the game, and how few bugs there are in comparison. There are no 'serious' bugs that render the game unplayable (closing down is NOT a reason to completely abandon the game). </BLOCKQUOTE>
looool. if we would treat our customers like that. hell we would be out of business already. its nothing else then cutting back at the expenses for sega. to release a demo and dont even wait for feedbacks just to release the full game a week later. do i really need to say more? </BLOCKQUOTE>
how could they possibly know all the issues that will come up on every single persons game? the process of making a game isn't the same as making a cheese burger where you work lad. Be happy they are so involved in the community and make a real hard effort to resolve issues as fast as possible. There are a lot of gaming companies that release a product clearly unfinished and then do not provide an fixes at all (see: Ubisoft, EA, etc.) </BLOCKQUOTE>
You fail to understand my initial problem here, it's not not about knowing all the 'issues' 'bugs' rather, how can they know every one? My issue is with 'possibly' releasing a product with 'possibly known' bugs, and such obvious ones. A demo one week, a game the next, the beta patch swiftly behind it. 'Maybe' there is pressure on SI from Sega, 'maybe'. As for comparing a greasy cheap cheeseburger usually made by people who couldn't care less if it is cooked properly or not, and what goes into it, to a £25 game created by advanced programmers with the backing of a company such as Sega... I'll leave it there. 'Be happy they are involved in the community and make a real hard effort to resolve issues'; Issues that they are paid to deal with quite frankly, I'm grateful, but I am also grateful to all the 'volunteers' who give up their 'free' time to create 'better' skins, facepacks and many more great additions to FM. I do agree however, that the FM community and SI's involvement in it, is one to praised, the FM community is superb. Good point raised by 'imperialfrost', a logical and sensible one. As for 'lad' I didn't know OAP's enjoyed the game, but well done anyways, you're never too old to enjoy the FM series.

I still don't understand what your problem with their tactic on patching is, and you forgot to counterpoint my point that many companies do not patch at all. or if they do, hardly to the extent that SI do. and if you get a console game, forget about it.
with regards to the price compared to a burger, well if the burger is messed, it can't be fixed, where with this game... i'm sure you can follow. it's not like anyone wasted their money. the game still works, and in a week will have very few problems.
with the graphics and such, there are licenses that SI cannot acquire thanks to EA. That is why they must rely on the community to produce the graphics for many things. To charge money for them (being included in the game) would surely cost them quite a bit more than it's worth.
i do agree though that the skins this year lack.
and thanks for your assumptions, i love them as much as you love mine

To copmare EA with SI is incongruous; if EA fail to release a patch they are not going to lose sleep. EA is one of the biggest game companies out there. If SI fail to release a patch then they could see future sales fall, then it'll be bye, bye Sega. SI rely on the FM series alone, EA can draw from many titles on multiple formats. EA release games on multiple formats, so if a game on a console seems fine then why should they release a patch for the PC. EA are more interested in console sales than PC, hence the failure to release a patch. PC sales are just a 'bonus' source of income for them, whilst consoles are the main source for them. The FM series rely's mainly on the PC user even though they are 'trying' to break into the console format. Yes, it is good that SI listen, but do they do it more because they want to, or need to, maybe both. SI need to keep the series glitch free in order to receive the backing of Sega, and to keep the PC users happy and rightly so; who do EA answer to? I 'do' believe that SI care about the FM series 'and' that they are under pressure, so I'll 'jump off their backs'. Anyways we'll agree to disagree, if we may, the thread's getting longer and I really think i'm falling in love with those cheese burger assumptions. Seriously though, this isn't personal to anyone including SI, it's just a topic I thought needed a bit of a 'kick up the Khyber! I'll shut up before I 'get' a beating across the head with a few EA titles, lol.
