Default Lesser teams making it big

I always enjoy seeing a team that you dont think will succeed building a strong foundation and end up competing in the top leagues... Has anyone seen a team like Birmingham for example end up winning the prem and go on to be succesful for years to come?

By about 2014 Wigan became a huge superpower in my 07, and Palermo utterly dominated Italy and Europe. Both are medium-sized to start with though, so not too huge a leap up.

Watford are a major force on mine and its now 2027. 2 Champions League titles for and and a few prems. Man City have been a force in the past. Leeds and Cardiff both UEFA cup botherers. Liverpool Chelsea and Man Utd seem to be Cup teams but struggle to challenge for titles.

Kidderminster are winning it all by 2025 in my 07 game, but I had some influence on that (not through cheating...)

in 07 i noticed the likes of forest, cadiff, southend all being a steady prem team, portsmouth challenging for the title at one point but it wasnt for long maybe two or 3 seasons winning the prem and then quietning down abit

Nottingham Forest and Coventry are the established old-guard that I am trying to challenge in my game.

Bari are still dominating European football 6 years after I left them, and with very few original players.

My main FM 07 save was Derby vs Arsenal head to head pretty much every season in Premier league as well as clashing in various cup competitions. Disappointing really, but other "big names" have fallen by the wayside behind us meaning that some slightly lesser teams tend to fill the top 10. Gillingham made a brief appearance in the Premiership for one season, but then completed the most inevitable relegation ever!

That's something that needs looking at then, Cardiff cannot get into Europe under the current rules/regulations.
