In italy there is no reserve league yet every team has a reserve team. In the under 20 league there are no player restricions so you can play a couple of older players. So as there is no reserve league when i select a player from my first team as 'make available for reserves' will he play for my under 20s as there are no reserve games or does it do exactly what it says on the tin!
But that wouldnt be realistic. In the real world, Italian teams must have to arrange friendlys.... so in FM, if you manage an Italian team, you do too.
well at least an option to tell the ass manager to arrange week ly friendlies for the reserve teams then i hate doing it myself. and yes the reserves are usually loaned out but sometime you can find that the reserve team may have quite a lot of unwanted players
Yes I have similar gripes with the Italian system. I tend to arrange a friendly if I have a few players in need of match practice or a player coming back from a long time out. Sticking players into the U20s is not a great system as they are often tired when it comes to Sundays matches. Perhaps adding friendly/U20s instructions similar to the international ones would help.
I like the OP's idea - simply, "If no Reserve fixtures within the specified window, and player is eligible to play for another not-first-team squad, place him in that squad."
That way, if I'm managing in England, and there's a 2-week break in Reserve matches, and I set an 18-year-old "eligible for Reserves" .. he'd play for the U-18s, which is better than not playing.
(Alternately, why don't we get *rid* of the Italian Reserve sides altogether?)
