Hi everyone,
Finally, I have completed my database update, made with an extraordinary amount of care for realism and detail. Like my first update, this one focuses mainly (but certainly not exclusively) on the Dutch leagues. This will be a rather long post, so here is the download link before I continue:
http://files.filefront.com//;6589437;;/
Some features are:
Edited data issues from all over the world, using a lot of information from various sources, especially the SI Data Issues Forum (including virtually all of the info in the Dutch Data Issues thread).
A lot of general changes made to players, non-players, clubs, stadiums etc. (squad status, correct names, birthplaces, personalities, positions, current ability, potential ability, reputation, attributes, relationships, preferred formations, club reputation, stadium capacity and so on).
Licensing issues resolved: real Dutch and German national teams, real French and Japanese team names and Oliver Kahn is in the game.
Added real competition names, added awards and added a lot of media sources. Edited cities and (its) weather. Edited languages. And Bulgaria and Romania are now EU member states.
Added people like Lucius and (promising) youngsters and removed dead, disabled, retired and (a lot of) duplicated players.
Fixes some bugs like the Rooney ban and the popping up of female names for generated players even without a patch. Also added more Dutch names available for generated players and reduced the number of generated Dutch people with for example a traditional Dutch first name and a Turkish or Moroccan surname. Also added scout knowledge for some people, PSV’s Piet de Visser for example now has knowledge of South American nations.
For me, one of the most important issues when playing the game is that my opponents play in their real life formations, with the right people in the right positions. Without disrespect for the vast amount of work the researchers have put into the database, I have never been really satisfied with the realism of the game in that regard. I have put a lot of work in tweaking players’ abilities and reputations to make sure that the opponents act in a more realistic way. Countless tests have shown that the game remains balanced with these changes. There are even a lot less silly transfers (at least at the beginning stages of the game), like Dutch First Division players being bought by Serie A clubs. Despite a lot of opposition from the game logic (which makes some pretty irrational decisions at times), I have managed to get close to real life. All Dutch (including the national team) and especially the Dutch top teams play in a realistic formation, with the right names at the right places (in my tests it happens regularly that in a match a team is exactly the same as their real life counterpart has been in matches this season, or that at least 10 out of 11 players are correct).
There a probably more gameplay enhancing data changes in this data update than in any other out there, including the official SI data update. I dare to say that this update will also be more realistic than the official data update that will be coming in about six weeks. Other than that update, which will for example have Leonardo playing for Ajax even at the start of the season, this update presents a true reflection of the situation at the start of the season. However, I have ensured that certain things that have happened in real life later in the season (like the chairman of PSV wanting to leave) will happen in the game as well.
