Reading this thread i have experience what most of you are talking about. One good exaple is in one match i was playing a bottom 4 team and i have 20 shots 18 on target from inside the box but it seems like the hand of God is keeping the ball out, then one long range shot from 30 yards out and am 0-1 down. this is the most fustrating FM i have played.
They say their is no such thing as "superkeepers" but from my observations the jury is still out on that one for me.
SI needs to address this in the next installment certainly.

Then, regardless of any changes you make, that's exactly what happens, a very annoyingly large percentage of the time.
It's not the fact that it happens which is the frustrating and infuriating thing, it's the regularity and predictability of it.
and the times you go ahead anyway, have billions of chances to put the game to bed, and then your defenders have a brainwave to...not defend, costing you a goal and the points.

Score 3 early.. they score just after half time, "they look fired up". You just know the end score is 3-4 and the last thing in the commentary will be "Whatever OTHER MANAGER said really helped them!"

When you are playing the game, do any of you tweak? I'm managing Merthyr Tydfil in their second season of the premiership, and its been very challenging.
We didn't win the EPL in the first season, but we qualified for ECL. The matches in the ECL were all challenging. In one match against Inter Milan, I set up my team for quick counters playing a highly unorthodox 442 with a sweeper at the back. We snuffed out most of their attacks, and after going a goal up. I tweaked my tactic.
I maintained my attacking stance, but pulled one striker into an AMC role,. thus playing a 451 and packing my midfield. This made it even tougher for the AI.
In the next match against Barca, we played brilliantly at home, outshooting them, but losing out to Barca when a silly mistake at the back gifted them a goal. But overall the performance was fab.
The way to get better in this game, is to pause the game, take stock of the situation, identify your weakest link. Cos if you are playing a good side then you will face pressure.
Even when I play weak sides, my back is against the wall sometimes, forcing me to do things like slowing down tempo for example. If you come up against a team that's putting you under pressure, what do you do? I slow down tempo and make sure I snuff them out in midfield.
On occassion I do give up 2 goal leads, but I have also come back from 3 goals down to win matches as well. Its up to you. There is loads of information on the boards, at times overwhelming, but if you keep things simple then you should be ok.
Remember:
Attributes matter
Win the ball in midfield
Don't worry bout winning possession
Understand your formation and what's its weakness.
The 442 has one major weakness, its flanks and playing against a diamond or a 3 man strike force. You need to be ready to change things around
