I’ve read a lot of threads on this page over the last couple of months, and haven’t reacted for a long time.
I’ve paid special interest to those regarding tactics and people not being able to sort out an own tactic for whatever reason.
I myself have struggled to find a suitable tactic especially before the patch was released.
With update 7.02 now firmly active on my machine I find that the results are starting to get better.
I have one tip for all those people complaining KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid.
In previous FM versions it was possible to make it as difficult as you wanted to make it.
But I’ve found something that might interest all of you who are struggling to find a tactic.

A few weeks ago I decided to give the game one last chance and try out a theory I had worked out.
Amazingly enough it worked and its very simple:

If you adapt your team instructions keep your individual instructions as easy as possible.
Make sure that there is now contradiction in the team and individual instructions.

I’ve tried a few options and I’ve found that if I keep all my team instructions mixed and only change the individual instructions or the other way around. My teams tend to get results.
I’m currently Borussia Dortmund and find myself in 3th place in the German Bundesliga with some surprising results as well i.e. I trashed Schalke on their home soil in Gelsenkirchen.

My conclusion therefore is:
Many people playing the game tend to make the same changes they used to make in previous versions of FM/CM, i.e. telling your team to attack and telling some players to only defend. This will cause chaos in your squad, I’m enjoying the game again and hope you all will too, thanks to these tips .

Interesting indeed. However, my experience has not been the same. You can still play with different and detailed roles for each player and have success. I have also found that you can not play in the same style in every single game (although it might work in 90% of the games) as you sooner or later will lose. That lost game will put down the morale on your players and you might find that they not preform in the next game making you lose agin and your in a negative spiral. Then you have to adjust your tactic to get some changes, just like IRL.
