Try this:
-If you have a reliable fast striker in your team or a fast eddie johnson-type player, put him upfront on his own.
-Then have your team play defensively in a 4-5-1 or 5-4-1 formation etc.
-Play defensively, little CF, slow, narrow etc. (medium closing down)
BUT
you have full long passing.
I have only really tried it with one team:
with MK dons (in 1st season) playing against Sheff Wed, Birmingham and Chelsea in FA cup.
I won sheff wed and birmingham 3-0 (1-1 in first leg with birmingham cos bendter score for the in the 90th minute) and i lost 1-0 against chelsea.
In every game i wouldnt say i dominated but it they were definitely not fluke victories.
The striker whooping ass for me is Izale McLeod, who has 19 pace and 16 accel with 14 finishing. (aston villa and portsmouth were wanting him in the first season).
This kind of tactic should really only be used against large teams if you are underdogs or a weaker team, could work well if you are newly promoted.
Now i dont know if this will work often or if it was quite a large fluke, and i am interested in hearing other people's take on this.
thanks, Rob.
