The season is a week over and I am suffering withdrawal symptoms!
I haven't played the game for ages and have just restarted again and downloaded 7.0.2...
Tactics seem to work OK for 3-5 matches, is there then an AI refresh does anyone know? I had a great pre-season, played 5 won 5.
I have then gone from this league and cup sequence of results:
W-3-1, W-2-0, D-2-2, D-1-1, W-2-1, W-4-1.
To this sequence:
L-4-0, D-1-1, L-5-2, L-5-1, L-3-1, L-4-1, D-1-1
I am playing as Everton (yeah, yeah ;o) and with a 4-1-3-2 formation/tactics that built about around the Bluntblade tactic.
The tactic was excellent on the original Db, and tweaked to become pretty reasonable under version 7.0.1.
As I say just want to know whether the new version of the Db has drastically altered things or not.
The simple answer is - you will need more than one tactic to be able to get results through an entire season. One example is that the opposition changes its approach and formation when they go behind, often out numbering you at the back until they grab a goal. So a defensive tactic to hold onto games will be needed. Alot of people play with different tactics for home and away matches, then a possession tactic, a grab a goal all out attack tactic and a defensive tactic for counter attacking. A good way to go about understanding it is to have a look around at some of the tactics threads with alot of replies. Most will have several tactics for different situations with explanations why and when to use them.

Thanks for that...I have been having a mooch for the last hour or so, it makes sense I guess.
I might mess about with a 4-1-3-2 at home, and a 4-1-3-1-1 away...
