Can someone give me some advice on how to stop the red cards?
I'm playing with Stalybridge in the conference north using my tactics from this thread. I have never had this problem before but my team have randomly started really tallying up red cards and it's hurting my push for play off places.
I have managed 6 red cards in the 16 games (5 of which have been straight reds) I have played this season. Each and every one has come from a player on normal or easy tackling.
The offenses are as followed:
1. Lovell hacked down Lee Manion with two feet! - The referee showed Lovell the red card
Playing centre forward on easy tackling. Straight red.
2. Holland had his shirt pulled by Hume - Hume was shown a red card for a cynical foul
Playing right back on nornal tackling - last man. Straight red.
3. McDonagh went down as Foster caught him with an elbow! - The referee gave Leigh a free kick - Fost was shown the red card!!!
Playing centre back on normal tackling. Straight red.
4. Brodie made a dangerous two-footed challenge on Pickersgill - Freekick to Lancaster - Steve Brodie was sent off!!!
Playing as defensive midfielder on normal tackling. Straight red.
5. Perrow had his shirt pulled by Bowater - Freekick to AFC Telford - Boward was sent off for a professional foul!!!
Playing as right back - last man. Straight red.
6. Brodie held back Gray - Brodie was shown a second yellow card!!
Playing as defensive midfielder - normal tackling. Second Yellow.
So yeah, do I really have to start putting all my players on easy tackling to sort this out or is there another factor that is coming into it that I am not looking at. On a side note I always play my 2 centre midfielders on hard tackling and neither of them have been sent off this season.
On a side note, I have Brodie position swapping with a centre midfielder (Brodie plays DMC), is he somehow adopting the MCs player instructions and going into hard tackling when he swaps or have I just hid a bad luck streak. I was playing with almost the exact same team last season with the exact same tactics (literally haven't changed anything other than made 2 signings) and last season I managed a total of 19 yellow cards and 0 reds. So far after only 16 games in the new seasons I have got myself 13 yellows and 6 reds and my players are ripping people to shreds all over the place. Every time a player gets called towards the ref he seems to come out with a red card, haha. What's changed here that I am so obviously missing?
Feel free to look through the tactics linked at the top (the ones in my second post as the set pieces were messed up in the top post) and let me know if you can find the reason this is suddenly happening. I usually only play the 4-4-2 variations and the 4-1-4-1 variations.
Thanks to anyone with any ideas on how to sort this out.

I had the same problems with my tactics, and I have found that putting your team instructions to Easy reduces most of the red and yellow cards and won't hurt you much in the game. One of the reasons your team might be getting more red cards than usual however is if you have an aggressive and dirty captain. Even with 20 influence, if the young players see their captain sliding in from behind or with two feet, they might try the same but unsuccessfully.
Also if your tactic uses a lot of chasing down the field, espically along the sides of the pitch, you might run into a lot of situations where a player with bad decisions might enter into harder tackles to slow the opponent down.
Hope that helps.

Hey deadlydevices, thanks for the reply. I never even considered that my captain could be causing something like this, my 2 first choice captains have an aggression rating of 9 (influence 17) and 14 (influence 19). Obviously I can't see the dirtyness rating. I will try out only using the one with 9 aggression for the rest of the season to see if that helps. Thanks for the tip.

I always used to find that Team tackling on easy was the way to go on FM05 and 06 but have changed my opinion on 07 since the patch. I tried using the three team options but through trial and error that the best way was Team set at Normal and use individual settings. So if a players tackling stats are between 0 - 8 I give him Easy, 9 - 15 = normal, 16 - 20 = Hard. I have played almost three quarters of a season like this with no red cards and only a few yellows. This is despite having 7 of my first choice first team outfield players on Hard tackling, 2 on Easy and one on Normal. It is not so hard to do this as when I set up a tactic I set it up with my first choice team and then generally only have one two changes to make on match day due to injury or such.

Hey bluesjunior, thanks for the reply - I already set up my tackling like this (but done with an average of several different attribute points) and with 1-10, 11-15 and 16-20 as my values. I've played like this for a few months now and I'd never got this problem before either until this latest save.
I took your advice on the captaincy deadlydevices and it solved my terrible yellow/red cards problem pretty instantly. In fact I only totalled another 8 yellow cards in the rest of the season without adjusting any of my tackling settings on player instructions. Cheers for the tip
