I've noticed that my opponents have a strange and annoyingly frequent tendency to play 'Greys' in their starting line-ups, regardless of how many players they have available for a match.
I'm a bit loathe to describe this as a bug, particularly since I'm playing in Portugal and it's possible they simply don't have enough registered players in their squad. But when it happens in the 3rd game of the season to a team with NO injuries, it gets me wondering.
It's annoying because I don't think they should be playing when there are other non-Greys sitting on the bench. Plus, there's the other 'feature' of FM, where these players play much better than should be expected of someone with stats like theirs.
I play a Huge Db in Britain, so no I haven't noticed this, although I pay little attention to the opposition, my own bunch of "rent-rebates" have enough problems on their own
Hmmm, in 4 consecutive games there were Greys in the starting line-ups for the others teams.
Considering one of those teams was Braga, who have about 5x the transfer/wage budget of any other teams in the league (and therefore plenty of players), I think I'll give this one a mention in the Bugs forum.
Seems like my original post is the least of my problems. I'd thought that the 26 players you register in your senior squad were the only 26 you could play in a league match, since it's true for me. Seems like that's not the case and is, in fact, a bug.
SI's answer?
