Funny that the most radical answers come from people who have joined this forum recently.

Note how inmense the regulars' indiference towards this suggestion is

Having said that, I must concur with Liam and Simon.

Jordi made a very valid point.

Personally, I believe that a warning in 24 px. font size would be rather like screaming or yelling and be a sign of unfriendliness.

The header is what it is. An explanation of what this place is, what we offer, and what we expect. If people don't bother reading it, it's not because it's too small in size. It's because they just don't bother.

or we could make a giant sign at first saying " read or else be called a newbie for all your life in these forums" i think that would really get the message through

The only decent other advice apart from the current header would be a thread called 'Posting rules under this Forum' and that thread being a direct link to that Flash movie Kostis found 2 years ago about posting and forums.

That would be class  (although perhaps a tad too much elaborated).

As one of the newer members, I have to say there's no excuse not to read the header. First, it's good practice when entering a new forum, whatever the forum's about. Secondly, LLM is not the most obvious place to come when joining the SI forums, so I doubt anyone stumbles in here by accident. A short read of a few posts make it pretty clear that the members here expect new posters to read the header...

Therefore, if anyone isn't reading the header, they're deliberately not doing so and making it clearer won't make much difference. In which case they deserve everything they get...

I think newer members get more annoyed with other new members not observing etiquette because we took the time to look before leaping and expect others to do likewise.

The trouble is everybody starts off managing the big clubs(Back in CM2 I cut my teeth with Liverpool ). Once you have won everything only then do you start thinking about bringing a small club to the top. Now they probably start off with their local small team and get them as far as they can and enjoy the challenge of that. Then they see a forum called Lower League Managers and thing yep that’s what I do and now and then they jump in head first.

The forum name itself leads people to think that it is just a forum for managers in lower leagues where as LLM is obviously a whole lot more.

Still, you'd have to be a very ignorant guy to start a new thread about your huge success without a.) reading the header
b.) reading some other threads here first

So, ignorant people aren't less ignorant because we put more hints everywhere. They'll stay ignorant.

I'm Captain Superfab. I took Altrincham to the Champions' Cup Final and won it in three seasons.
