And unknown managers (ie you and me) get given a job at any club we want to start the game. Is that realistic? It is a game, not real life, and the guidelines are there to make the game as enjoyable and realistic as possible.
The game's not perfect and the rules and guidelines do an admirable job of bringing a sense of realism to those that play LLM style.
If you want to free list all your talented youngsters or apply any other artificial difficulty then go right ahead, as they say "it's your game"

I'd like to introduce you to a friend of mine - he sits on the right hand end of the main part of a keyboard, just above the right-hand shift key.
He's called "Return", short for "Carriage Return".
