kroc, thanks for the advice, I'll put it with the several thousand other words of advice from other guys who've never come back again after they've spat the dummy.
If you've read the Forum Header and the sticky threads then you should have a pretty good idea of why Rules and Guidelines are necessary in a Forum like this, and every other Forum in the SI Messageboards.
LLM is a style of play. LLMers come here to discuss what we play, we don't need to offer or receive tips on players, tactics or anything to do with the game, we don't need new guys coming in and saying "I'm a CM/FM God" or "Who's a good LLM Team to play with?" so those things are mentioned in the Forum Header to dissuade people from doing it.
Now, if it doesn't suit some people, then there are more than a dozen other Fora for them to post in.
You won't change LLM, they won't change LLM, so fit in or ship out.
Straight forward choice to make.
I hope you stay, but you'll have to wait three seasons to update, that befalls everyone unless they arrange otherwise with the Mods, and have good reason for it.

I play anyway. What I don't get is that according to these rules, you cannot post ANYTHING but your results AFTER you are done with your save and starting something else. That seems weird so trying to understand.
| Kroc, I'm a very good example, considering where I posted before, that it needn't be as hard as you seem to imply.
Try being less confrontational about it and maybe you'll have an easier time. Same goes for anyone else who thinks this is such a bad-ass forum.

| Oh, I'll come back once I've done my 3 seasons with Vauxhall Quote: |

| Since I started FM2006, I've been playing by these rules without knowing about them. That's why I'm so confused because it seems to have nothing to do with how "ethical" you play but just very aggressive posting rules.
I understand that this is not a place to ask questions about tactics, players and the like, there are other forums for this (good ones at that) but, and I stand by it, the forum name is VERY misleading and NOBODY reads headers before actually posting. Quote:

| I'll wait for my seasons and probably come back but I was more looking for a chill out place where FM2006 lower league managers would have a chat about their experience and problems, not a place to just list results.

| It isn't. I've recently had a nice chat with Hogie about our boards not expanding our stadium and the problems this has caused.
Once you get a feel for the place you'll get a sense of what's cool to chat about and what isn't. Just don't be so free to tell the established posters how to run their forum.
And, btw, if you don't read the headers, whatever the forum, then you are asking for trouble, and can't really complain when you get it...

Nobody, ever, reads the headers on forums
That said, and I'll shut up afterwards, have the mods change the forum title. Simple but I'm betting that it will solve 90% of the "breaking the rule" posting you guys are getting. Rename this one with something obscure like the "LLaMas challenges".
All done, heading out, I know the way |

In my opinion Kroc, it doesn't matter what you call the forum, unless people actually read the headers you will always get idiots posting and freely breaking the rules.
It really isn't a big deal to read a few posts to understand the rules and guidelines. I consider those who don't rude and disrespectful. People don't ignore rules and guidelines in their daily lives so why is this forum any different. Again, in real life if you disobey rules, you are punished. Same applies here in my opinion.

Okay so what are we going to rename the forum too… Poofland FC? The Zoo? Ideas on a post card or posted in this forum whatever you prefer. |

Personally, I think the biggest problem is the total ban of what is called "tipping." The way we apply the rule here is to eliminate any kind of assistance from one LLaMa to another. But I feel that there are certain types of assistance that don't constitute "tipping" and should be allowed, particularly when they involve helping people learn more about how the game is programmed, the features available, etc.
Exchanging tactics, naming good players, and that sort of thing is totally unrealistic and should not be allowed. And certainly anyone coming onto the forum and asking which lower league club has the most money or which otherwise looking to make the game easy or modify it should be sent packing.
But I think that discussions about features of the game, exchanges of insight about dealing with the board or dealing with player morale, or how a new match engine from SI works ... these are all relatively innocent to me. And if that kind of discussion were allowed, I think the forum would be a much more hospitable and productive place.
But I don't expect anything to change, and by posting here I am implicitly agreeing to the LLaMa social contract. So, even if there is no discussion of that sort allowed, I'll be happy to participate as I have been. I would just enjoy helping out some burdgeoning LLaMas here and there, because they might just be one small step away from understanding FM better and becoming the next generation of zealots. |
