Aye. I've often used the same approach. However, in Portugal I've had to start manually setting nicknames. After all, with 5 players called the same thing, mistakes happen. Particularly after a few drinks.

some players complain about not playing as many first team games as they believe they deserve, but the majority are signed on as hot prospect or youngster, therefore don't expect first team action. i think getting a start at such a young age is a bonus for any of my players!!

I always tell my youth team coach to handle contract renewals, otherwise I forget. He's got an annoying habit of signing them up on first team contracts as soon as they turn 19 even though they're nowhere near good enough to play. They get unhappy when I downgrade their squad status.

my assistant often asks if i want to give a professional contract to a player just turned 17, though sometimes he does it himself. when my players get to 19 i always sell/release them if they are not up to my standards.
