2006/07 - 5th Round FA Cup - Lost to Man Utd
Currently in a typical post-Xmas form slump, having only grabbed one point from our last four outings, we still sit four points clear at the top. We haven't been in any sort of bother this season, and promotion seems almost assured once the slump is overcome. The five seasons in the Conference has given us a strong player platform, and we have been riding on the back of our 22y striker who has netted 66 goals since coming from Kettering on a free transfer. Looks like I am going to loose him at the end of the season as he is asking for an huge wage increase, something we may or may not be able to afford next year.
In the middle of a busy fixture period, as we are still active in all three cups. We have reached the 4th round of the FA Cup and play either Halifax (D3) or Walsall (D2) at home. The Vans Trophy has reached the northern semi-final where we will host Bury (D3)
The big news is we find ourselves in the position of hosting Arsenal in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final. It wasn't an easy ride and killed off two PL clubs along the way, Forest being the lastest with a very hard fought 2-1 win at The City Ground. Still can't believe we are in this position.
These cup runs have seen our coffers bursting at the seams, and the financial problems of the first few seasons seem a dark & distant memory. Our profit margin this season stands currently at £1M with more rolling in after the tie against Arsenal, win or loose.
Got my first ever job offer last week from Bournemouth, currently high flying in Div 2. I rejected the the offer.
I know I have been away from the board for a few days, but when did updates become legal again? (assuming that those of us who are not mods can post them).
If they are considered to be an acceptable sort of banter, then it may be time for me to put an end to my Brentford game and begin my journey into the wilds of the Czech 2nd division.
