Reward offered to anyone knowing of the where about of the four wheels that came off Shrewsbury’s little red wagon between Saturday 18th April 2009 & Saturday 9th May 2009
Promotion to Division 2, finishing second behind Halifax. In the last six games we drew five of them squandering a seven point buffer, allowing Halifax to leap-frog us and be crowned champions on the last day of the season. The men from The Shay have been our nemesis side for a few years now, and we have had many an on field battle.
Vans Trophy - Winners
In front of 36000 at the home of football, we knocked over Division 2 lightweights Cambridge with a man of the match performance by our 22y striker who netted the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute. We got to the final, care of a 4-2 two way leg playoff aggregate against Halifax. Suck on that Halifax.
League Cup - Semi Finalists
As expected we lost the two way leg against Arsenal, but the matches had their moments. We held them to a 0-0 scoreline at Gay Meadow, and then scored at the death of normal time in the return leg to make the score 2-2. I thought we were through to the final as I thought away goals would count for us.
Wrong! It's only after extra time if the scores are level that away goals count. Bloody stupid rule.

Ten minutes into extra time we were down 4-2 but got one back care of that 22y again, and then missed a sitter in the 120th minute. Arsenal fielded their Reserve side during both legs, which was a nice programming touch by SI.
FA Cup - Lost in 5th Round
For the second time in three years we got to the final 16, this time knocked out by another poofy London club that another certain Mod supports, poor fool that he is. :p
With all these good cup runs, the money is bursting out of the second story window of the club house. Due to this, we were able to knock back without hesitation a 500k offer from Peterborough for our 20y goalie. That lad will play for England, mark my words.
All the first team is onboard for next seasons fixtures, including that 22y old striker who after lengthy negotiations re-signed for another two seasons. In all fixtures he has now scored 76 goals in three seasons, a figure which should be greater if not for a couple of long term injuries which kept him on the sidelines. We do rely a bit too much on him, and need to find a good consistent partner up front to share the workload.
