I am a newbie at LLM, but I really want to try and make a success of LLM in the lowest possible English league, Conf. South with Lewes (my nearest team). My problem is, no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to bring anybody in, whether it be for free or onloan, I no zero cash to spend, but do have some wiggle room in terms of wages. I obviously don't want folks to make it easy for me, but a gentle nudge in the right direction would be handy!

You're Lewes, signing players isn't going to be easy. If you were a footballer would you want to play for Lewes? Probably not.

To a large extent you will probably have to make do with what you've got. Enjoy

Rely on your scouts, send them out and they will find you some unsigned or low cost players that you could bid £0 for.

Remember, players who do not want to sign for you are losers and should be ignored for ever more.

Hi Scofz. Good thing you don't want us to make it easy for you, because as the forum header states, we don't give tips. That said, there are some nuances to FM 2006 which should be understood.

Not being able to attract players is a common plight of an LLM manager. There are several ways to tackle it. First of all - use your scouts. Read the forum header about scouting. These guys seem to filter out unrealisitic targets themselves a bit, and tend to point you towards players you could actually sign. Plus, you should be scouting to find your potential acquisitions anyway. ;-)

Second, and I hope this is more common sense than tipping, but winning helps. Winnign brings in more people, more money, increases your reptuation... all sorts of good things. I know it might be hard to win with your current squad, but no one said LLM is easy!

The first year in LLM is generally the toughest. Because you are mostly limited to signing freebies. There are however a lot of freebies knocking around that are way better than the sh;te you currently call a team. I just checked my update and in the first season I signed 11 freebies. Send out the scout and see what he comes back with.

Doing better now, managed to sign 2 freebie strikers who have both scored, i guess it's just trial and error. only lost 3 games out of 9 so far, but losing money!

Ah, this LLM is a real trial, some may say a tribulation, but it's worth it in the long run.
