Yes, although there are exceptions. Traditionally a LLaMa will always start a save in the lowest possible playable division of a given country, although we don't mind a complete newbie starting a level higher just to cut their teeth. But we look upon that as a familiarisation game: get used to the pitfalls, see if you like LLM, then we'd encourage them to start a proper campaign properly - at the bottom.

idasith - Starting in the conference is definitely not LLM, no. Getting there (and possibly even higher) is the aim...

If you look at some of the longer saves, some of the LLaMas are at high-level clubs or have taken their small clubs to the top levels - this is still LLM, because they started from the very bottom.

Despite what you might think from some of the updates, being a LLaMa isn't about unreserved failure, it's just that spectacular failure is simply celebrated more.

It's not? It's acceptable if the guy is new, or if he has a machine that may not handle that many divisions. To get a start in LLM, even though we'd prefer them to start in the lowest possible division, to start in the Conference National isn't exactly heresy.

Besides, by "Conference" he may mean a North/South side, since, if I have read the names of that division correctly, they both have the word "Conference" in them...
