Would it be considered an affront to the spirit of LLM to watch the highlights of the division you were playing in? I'm playing in the Belgian 2nd division at the moment, and I get TV money with no live games so I know the goals are getting shown somewhere.

The first divsion highlights shouldn't be unrealistic to watch either, as Belgium has a Match of the Day-style programme for the Jupiler League.

Or is this all highly unrecommended?

I certainly wouldn’t be watching games from a higher league looking for players. I’m currently in the Championship with Basingstoke and that would be the equivalent of me watching the Liverpool Man Utd game yesterday and saying oh that Man Utd striker looks good I’ll send my scout to have a look at him (Like that particular player would come play for me at 5% of his wages in front of a 6000 capacity crowd.) If I was going to do anything I would be looking at Div 1, Div 2 and Conference matches hoping to find a good and cheap player from there. But that is exactly what my scout does he appears to be doing just fine. So personally I would not do it, though as they say it’s your game ….

I haven't watched any highlights as I thought it might come under the whole "It's realistic but against the guidelines of LLM" shebang. A manager could be aware of players he might see on TV, video, etc and get them scouted afterwards, no one would be crazy enough to sign a player they'd only seen on TV... right? I just wondered if it had come up before.

It felt like a wrong, dirty idea anyway. It seems I've caught the LLM bug, my friends. :thup:

I may be grabbing the wrong end of the stick, here...I certainly hope so, but there's no reason why you shouldn't watch telly to watch football.

Signing players in LLM based on that wouldn't be advised, but it's okay to watch it.
