I used to think that you guys took the game far too seriously until... I discovered that LLM is far more fun (yes, I am near the bottom of the league with Stafford Rangers but at least its fun - in a strange, sadistic way).
Anyway I was wondering when you sign staff, is the rule that you have to place an advert or can you use the staff search screen to find potential staff?
TBH, I olny use adverts. Why? Not because you would get all realistic targets, but because it is far more realistic than staff search screen.
There is no way, no how, a manager would have a list of staff in the country. Plus the option with staff search is totaly free, which is far fetched. Hence, I would say, that using search staff screen is as unrealistic as it would be for Argentinian high flying coach to apply for an ad for Slovenian 2nd division. However, if I had to use it some day, I would place advert first and than go searching for staff. But then again, I am weired as is.
Bearing in mind that an ex-Arsenal dutch winger who I think is still doing the business for Barcelona wanted to be a part-time coach for me after placing an advert for Lancaster City, I don't use the Job Centre any more.
It can never be said often enough: the job centre sucks arse! Obviously it's a great idea, but the way it currently works is plain silly. Just give it a go and see if you don't agree. You can be a crappy Part-time LL side, and all or most of the applicants will be foreign nationals already with clubs, and who you can't afford the release fee or the wage even were their interest in coaching for your crappy little side believable.
Oddly, enough the Job Centre is getting better for me. When I was with Elgin City in the Scottish Third Division, I only got Greeks & Danes responding to my advertisements. Now that I have Elgin City in the First Div., about half the responses are from coaches from other Scottish football teams.
That said, the Job Centre is far too crappy to make it mandatory for LLM use. We can only hope it's improved for FM07.
The job centre seems to improve as the seasons progress. In my first season I had a couple of Brazilians :eek:apply for coaching job with Welling. After five seasons, whenever I have placed an advert 90% of applicants are from the Conf N/S or National.
I think it must just be the initial enthusiasm of unemployed coaches trying to find work. Maybe the brew have threatened to stop paying them if they don't apply for enough posts
OK - the job centre is rubbish - it did offer me plenty of english scouts and coaches - only problem is i can only offer £20/week and they all wanted at least 10 times more. I think the staff search screen must be used.
I do a search and choose realistic options. Whenever i placed an Ad i would either get blokes who were already contracted (couldn't dream about buying them) or i would get foreignys who couldn't speak English. IMO that is far more unrealistic than just plain searching.
