I don't see it as a problem, plenty of real life clubs have coaches who are still registered and can play in case of an emergency.

My scouts found me an Irish player/coach who didn't look much good on the pitch, but he got his chance due to injuries and became my starting right back for 2 seasons.

That's true. In the Premiership years, our first choice keeper was out long term and our backup rang up on the day of the derby match against the White $hite to say he'd injured himself (it later transpired he'd dropped an iron on his foot ) so we had to put our GK coach, the fat ex-Wales and Everton 'keeper, between the sticks.

1-1 draw against our hated neighbours, and a debut goal for the dogging Brummie wife-beating striker. Lovely.

I don't find a player/coach to be unrealistic at all, especially if he is a veteran player for the team. What I find unrealistic is when you approach over the top 37 year old players with a player/coach contract simply to use them as staff members and never play them.

Frankly, pulling your own limbs off is more fun than going to VP this season, but we'll see. I think we might just get a big win today. (/me is hoping more than anything )
