I thought I'd give you an update on my first real forray (sp?) into LLM.
I am running version 6.02 with all English leagues loaded with normal sized database and detail. Sadly my computer can't hack much more than that!
Team: Basingstoke
Season 2005/2006 - Conference South
On arrival I was shocked to find just 16 players in the squad who caould play on only a very limited number of positions and with no transfer budget and a very small wage budget £2,200 (!) I knew that I had my work cut out. I brought in a few players to try to boster the squad, getting rid of a few who I thought I wouldn't need for my rather experimental formation. I also brought in a new scout as my current one couldn't tell his arse from his elbow to be completely frank!
The season started poorly but we picked up to have a decent run after Christmas but it was not quite good enough and we never quite manager to break into the play off places, eventually finishing 8th after some indiferent end of season form.
League: P:42 W:16 D:12 L:14 GD:5 P:60
Cups: Sucked
Transfers in: 3 £0 (plus a couple of my grey players who were offered contracts)
Transfers out: 2 £4k
The Rest of England:
Premiership: Arsenal, Relegated: West Ham, Sunderland, Fulham
After last seasons performance I though we might be able to push for a play off place. Board wanted respectable league positions and I was satisfied we could deliver this, despite not having a transfer budget. My newcantract (signed at the beginning of April last season) did give me a bit of breathing room however.
I brought in a foreward for £1k earnt after Crewe poached my assistant manager. My new player/assistant manager was supposed to fill the problem right winger position, and to some extent he did although at 35 his impact was somewhat limited!
We started terribly however, drawing 4 and losing 2 of my first 6 withought scoring! We did pick up to some extent and a four goal hammering of Eastleigh set us on a decent run of form which eventually took us a high as 5th. Again, however, our form dropped off towards the end of the season and again we finished a slightly disapointing 8th but with more draws and less defeates. We became masters of throwing away leads as we were still worryingly impotent in front of goal and drew 1-1 far too mauny times.
League: P:42 W:16 D:16 L:10 GD:10 P:64
Cups: Sucked again - no home ties since FA cup first round last year!
A bit of advice, Gill... you don't need to tell us how well every other club in the game did.
Your own progress should be interesting enough to keep our (sometimes limited) attention spans. And if it doesn't... well... relegation is always fun to read about.
I got a fairly decent guy in this season on loan to fill my troublesome right midfield position although I am still not entirely happy. With the finances even more in the red than last year I was budgetless again. I brought in a couple of guys for free, mainly as back up as I felt I had a squad capable of going far already. My scout did however find a gem of a centerback who was quickly slotted into place. Again the board were hoping for safe midtable which I felt we were more than capable of achieving.
For the first time ever (with Basingstoke) I won my opening game of the season and we by mid November I though we might have a chance of taking the title. However, I got greedy and was on a fairly decent cup run. Owing to this my players got tired and depressed as we went out in the FA Cup forst round propper to League 1 Bury (we were leading at the hour mark but alas it was not to be ) and so we went on a 16 game league run with just 1 victory to plumet down the table and finished the season with the most average results you could possible have!

Cheers turnip. From now on I might just heed that advice. It very boring and pretty hard work working out all those other teams. I just thought it might be interesting as my career doesn't apear to be going anywhere althoguh I have a spectacular tactical ovehaul planned for next season
And I forgot to mention, my young DMC that I brought in won fans player of the year for all three seasons as he plays he psuedo anchor role so well and my young striker had just been given an England under 19 call up
