Default Mid Season Collapse

So i play with Fulham and come january im sitting pretty in 5th place in my first season. Suddenly, I cant score and begin to concede 2/3 a match. Its April and I only have one win to my name (since January). I lose 2-0 to derby and have to restrain myself from smashing my PSP with a hammer. I didnt change anything and yet my system which saw me beat Liverpool 4-0 at Anfield is completley failing.

My formation is built around my best players. On the game fulhams defenders are pretty bad (as they probably should be) but our midfielders are excellent and Diomansy Kamara is very overratted. I play a Diamond formation like this -

GK: Niemi
RB: Volz (Zonal Marking, forward runs on)
LB: Konchesky (Zonal Marking, forward runs on)
CB: Bocanegra (Man Marking, Direct Passing)
CB: J.Evans (Man Marking, Direct Passing)
RM: Dempsey (Zonal Marking)
LM: Cook (Zonal Marking)
DMC: Smertin (Zonal Marking, Hard tackling)
AMC: Bullard
FC: D.Kamara
FC: McBride (hold up ball)

Mentality is Normal, Passing is short, Pressing is set to yes and all the other options are no (counter attack, offside trap and men behind ball).

Now I expected a mid table/top 10 finish with this team as the stats that these players have are very good but i cant understand why my formation that was working so well has suddenly ceased to work at all. Can anyone shed some light on this situation? The only things i can think of are that other teams have improved greatly (i had no funds in january) or that the AI has gotten used to my system. I heard this is only supposed to happen after the first season though and I didnt expect it to be on the PSP version.

Looking at your team I would of thought that your back two lack any real class or decent experience to be attacking European places. Kamara and McBride arne't your 20+ goal a season hitmans therefore relying on your midfield to keep you high up. I'd say this is pretty normal for Fulham, however a sudden dip with no wins is abnormal. Just tighten up the defence rather than emphasise on attack, you may not get the same wins as you did but you will certainly concede less and keep a stable position.
