FM7.

FM8 unpatched: workarounds ok but every direct free kick goes in. Drove me nuts.

FM8 Beta: Worse. Every clear run to the edge of the penalty area results in a goal through a keeper apparently composed of thin air if it's on target. Defenders mysteriously run away from the attacking player. Throw-ins go to straight to opposition strikers who stroke the ball home from the edge of the area through a composed-of-thin-air keeper. Goalkeeper distribution still a portent for an opposition one-on-one. Grey non-league teams from hell, etc.

I could re-intstall and play patchless, but FM7 just seems more attractive.

Playing FM08 patched.

It's brilliant.

So far I have taken helm of St Albans, just about avoided relegation, persuaded the board to have Chelsea as a parent club and now I am unbeaten for 23 games and top of the Blue Square South. :cool:

That's pretty much my condition too. Once FM08 is properly patched I suppose I'll focus my attention on it, but until then I'm still going forward with my FM07 game (which is also the first one in a long while where I played more than 2 seasons... )
My CM01/02 game is on the second computer, which is having trouble right now. But I have backups of saves from pretty much all versions which had selectable saves (CM3 onwards).

How dramatic.

FM 08 for me - I have been able to work around the few bugs that there are, and I am really into at the moment. Of course, when it is fixed that'll be better though.

FM 08 just has that extra bit of class about it - I don't really know how. Maybe the skin has gone to my head.
