both nowhere near as unrealistic as a player signing for a club then leaving nine days later with the buying club agreeing to pay part of his wages

Let me get this straight? The board made you sell him because the offer was too good to refuse, then they let you buy him back for the same money - making themselves look like complete turds.
Just another reason why this so-called "simulation" is about as realistic as a cow jumping over the moon.

The board didn't make me sell him. I sold him myself because his contract was runnng out.
He wanted to move to a bigger club when we were in the championship, and I couldn't get him to change his mind.
Aston Villa are a traditional big club in 2052, but almost got relegated last season (the transfer was arranged to happen a year after it was agreed, maybe they hadn't budgeted for it), wheras I won it an am now in europe.
Maybee it is unrealistic, but I'm just excited I'm stil finding new stuff in FM05...

If it was happening all the time then maybe but on the basis of hamann and mikel above suprising things do happen
What do you want, FM08 to play out the season in every league in every country goal for goal?

That has been a standard problem throughout FM07. My Greenock Morton board constantly intercepted bids from Premier League clubs for my players, resulting in us having a £50 million bank balance. I was tee'd off at it because I wanted to keep the players instead of a Swiss Bank full of cash, but the stupid thing was that I had 100% of the money put into my transfer kitty.
So they don't trust me to decide for myself about selling a player for £10 million, but they are quite happy to let me go out and spend that money on any old player once they've sold him!
