Hi all,
I recently decided to use the MiniScout to find potential hot prospects that I can train to be big stars.
However, there seems to be a difference in how the game sees potential and how the Mini Scout sees potential.
Here is my problem:
I have two scouts and a a coach that has 19 in Current Ability and 20 in Potential Ability.
I go to Mini Scout and find a bunch of players with current ability around 95-110 and potential between 165-190 as they would be considered potential leading stars, right?
Wrong!
When I ask my scouts to scout some of the found players they come up with these results:
"Avoid to sign this player", "potential nowhere near enough" and so on.
They get 1 gold star for current, which I understand, but they also only get 1 or 2 stars for potential, which doesnt add up with the actual numbers found in the scout, which again must have come from the actual player stats?
Who is NOT doing their job here? my premium scouts or the mini scout.......or is Potential Ability just a feature with no real effect - eye candy?
I really like to use the scouts, so I hope that someone can shed some light on this, please.
What's happening is you're probably managing a big team and the scouts are more strict.
Other issue is you might be looking at players who are passed their real 'development time' and the scouts don't mind the figure for their potential anymore, because they know they probably won't reach it anyway.
I just had a check of my startup squad of the game and the indications my scout give me are the same that follows the Potential in the database (-9 being super talented prospect), but it doesnt explain the difference to the Mini Scout. The Mini Scout finds talents that my coaches say sucks, but they are Regens (well, most of them are anyways).
Bottomline here:
Can I trust my in-game scouts?
or are External scouts the way?
External scouts give the actual numbers. If you want to go that way, that's the way to go ... :p
The in-game scouts have uncertianty built into them for playability/realism. A real manager has to rely on his what his scouts tell him, and they are often wrong. So your in-game scouts are often wrong, no matter how well they're rated. The good ones are just wrong a bit less often. That's life, that's the way the game was meant to be played.
So, pick your poisen. something resembling real life, or a perfect world ... whatever it takes for you to enjoy your game. Have fun!
Scouts and coaches judge a players potential on the level they are playing at, their current ability and how well they are playing. If the players aren't doing anything to suggest they have high potential, then he wont say that he believes they do.
On numerous occassions, I've seen scouts vastly overrate players, saying they would be top class and they turned ouy to be pretty average.
Thanks for the replies. I guess that using the in-game scouts will make it more realistic, but every once in a while, I would want to find a unique talent that noone else have interest in.
