The only option?
This happens in real life too. If you're not one of the elite clubs, expect to lose your players to the elite clubs if they are elite players.
Getafe (i assume you are playing as Getafe because that's where Ustari plays IRL) is not an elite club. I think your "only" option is to use the money wisely and build your club into an elite club that attracts players of Ustari's class all the time.
Obviously not as big as Arsenal, but still, must feel pretty harsh to lose an upcoming and quality keeper to a division rival. If the chairman interferes, I usually offer a better contract, but if the offer is too good to refuse, I start looking for replacements.
You can't really complain about this - it happens in real life and therefore SI included it in the game, as their aim is to make their game as realistic as possible...it's tough but i expect it only happens in situations with offers of at least the player's value, so you might as well buy someone else as good or better with the money.
I've only experienced this once....deadline day at newcastle. Chairman accepted an 11.5 mil bid for N'zogbia (who wasn't in my starting line up anyway) and on the same day a 5 mil bid for Viduka. I can't really grumble at those prices, quite realistic really in that case

Agree 100%, even though this feature is not in the game i still find myself going the the "board room" when the chairman accepts bids in the hope there is a "wtf are you doing to the club" button
Oh man do we ever need this button!!
It is fair enough if the money is used for something chairman orientated - debt relief, a new stadium etc.
BUT if the money is returned to you to spend on players, that is ludicrous, I mean that is insane, wrong. There is NO CHAIRMAN IN THE WORLD who would behave like this and there is NO MANAGER IN THE WORLD who stand for it.
The ONLY way it works is if the chairman wants to spend that money on players he wants (a la Athletico Madrid) or on club stuff.
Otherwise it's just random lunacy, and every single manager exposed to it in the real world would resign that day.
Actually that's a really good point. If the chairman really wants to money in the coffers that badly, why would he then provide the manager with that money for transfers?
18 mill is a massive offer for a goalie. What amount did you buy him for?. Even if you are blackburn, i would understand your chairman considering it. But kinda strange anyways, i must agree.
In my game hes only got 8 u21 games for italy, and price is a 3,8 mill (this is after season 1). And he play in Getafe spain.

Seriously brother, this is the bottom line and I said so last year. I am all for a Chairman insisting on a sale for a given player, but only if he needs that money for X, Y or Z, but it has NEVER HAPPENED IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL that a manger has had a player sold from under him and then been given that money for transfer fees. It has never, ever happened. It HAS happened when chairmen have then brought in their own men, sort of a "director of football" type of situation, but never ever as it happens in game.
In my mind this is the most serious fault in the game, and it doesn't seem to be getting addressed. I mean SI, who have made an absolutley brilliant game and community here, seem to think it's fine as it is.
