Season 2016/2017 playing as Arsenal. The 260M outstanding loan has limited the resources quiet abit. We are under wagebudget with a couple of hunderedthousands but still losing a few millions each month. This isn't worrying me too much as prizemoney and such will keep the team afloat and maybe even generate some extra cash for darker time.
My problem is that due to the financial situation I can't afford to have all that many top notch players. As I find myself closing in on the end of the season I have won the carling cup, got to the semifinal in the FA cup and just advanced to the second knockout round in the champions league. The heavy schedual is knackering my players and there just isn't enough cover.
I've been trying to come up with a few solutions but it feels abit hazardous to experiment during such a good spell of form so I decided to check if anyone got any experiance with the following. How will it effect fitness, performance and attributes?
1. Give players a lot of rest from training, like a few days every week.
2. Put all the players on light trainingscheduals.
3. Keep things as they are and play them even if they are tired. Got a feeling injuries might be a problem.
4. Drop one competition, playing reserves. Guess my board and fans will hate that one.
the normal thought is that pre season is for heavy fitness and strength training. during the season you should lower it quite a bit.
personally i keep my strength and fitness training up through out.
there are a few players that dont like training that much.
generally it's some youth players that aren't used to the high intensity.
pennant on the other hand doesn't seem to like training much and always moans so he has to go on a light session all season.
as for tactics in your situation you could always try lowering the intensity of GAMES. take off lots of forward runs, try to keep the ball better then you wont be chasing games and players getting tired.
personally i would just rotate as much as possible. my thought is prevention is better than cure so rather than wait for them to get tired and jaded after playing 20 games in a row i keep resting them every few games. certainly they dont play much more than 7 games in a row. this keeps them fitter in the latter stages of the season.
so take off your top players with 30mins to go if your in the lead and give some of your younger players a go. they may perform well and warrant a starting place giving you more options.
Got a couple of youths that have proven themselves like this but still far from enough. I try to rotate as much as possible without making too big sacrifices in chances of winning, usually a couple of first team players each game and another 2 or 3 subbed in the middle of the second.
All my players are usually on a medium trainingschedual, a couple of ticks down from heavy. They also got strength and agility on medium but closer to light than to high.
