Default How about a prioritizing the biggest issues?

I think almost all will agree that, whether you are enjoying the game or not (and I am) that there are a number of key issues that need to be resolved. I don't know how to create a poll, but perhaps we can at least attempt to highlight the absolute most key issues in an effort to help SI focus on fixes for a hopefully upcoming patch.

In order to best assemble the list I'd suggest posting here and linking to the best documented evidence thread of the issue.

The one that bothers me the most is the problems with regens and youth development. Namely, worldwide talent depreciates signficantly over time, very few youngsters ever develop until they are into their mid-20s (and many not at all), and more signficantly, players with high physical stats become extremely rare, resulting in a league full of technically skilled, but slow and weak players, and dominated largely by 30-somethings. This is especially apparent on defense where the top-flight regen DCs and FBs often have pace and jumping scores below 10. This thread does an excellent job of documenting the problem:
http://community.sigames.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5211026...962019663#6962019663

The other two biggest issues I can think of are the too many shots/too many saves/no defense problem and the registration bug. Not having played in a registration league, I cannot comment on the latter.

As for the former, it's important we focus on the real issue, which is that for whatever reason, defense really struggles to prevent chances in 2008. I believe this has something to do with whatever was put in place to fix the closing down issue. I have noticed that defenders with even the slightest closing down setting will happily leave players unmarked in dangerous situations to close down the ball. Solving this by giving them minimal closing down results in attackers having way too much space to organize an attack. Defenders also seem to miss a lot of tackles, far more than previous versions. It seems in order to balance this keepers were beefed up, so the result is way more shots, and way more saves than would be normal. Matches with 40-50 shots between the two teams, even when playing slower possession style are not uncommon. And these are not all long shots, many are clear one-on-ones and apparent sitters. This is not an AI cheating issue, it happens both ways and ranting about cheating AI doesn't help anyone. But clearly this problem more than any other has geenrated more complaints, though not always focusing on the real problem (as evidenced by the millions of "30 shots, 1 goal, game is broken!" threads).

So in summary, I would say the top three issues (IMHO) are:
1. Bad defense/too many chances/too many saves issue
2. Decay of talent over time issue
3. Registration issue

I think we'd all love to hear if SI has acknowledged these are problems and if anything is being done to correct them. Further, please feel free to nominate any other issues, and to link to supporting evidence for any of the problems above. There are plenty of bugs, but I think the best way we can give feedback to SI is for everyone to focus on the top 3 or so issues they think are most important.

Very well written, and I completely agree with everything you've said too. I think you've nailed the biggest problems I have with the game as it is right now.

If you mean their ability to use The Force like Obi Wan to make strikers shoot (or bobble) the ball straight into their hands, then yes.

I do not see goalies making "superhuman" saves anymore, like in FM 2007. I think what needs to be tweaked in this respect, is for strikers to shoot slightly better and goalies to be able to make saves slightly better. That will make viewing the match engine more exciting and realistic, whilst still preventing too many goals from being scored.

Would you agree with this, or is your experience different from mine?

Good post by the way. I just wanted to comment on that one aspect.

I found this thread that clearly documents the actual issue with the too many chances issue:

http://community.sigames.com/eve/for...1/m/5192028073

It seems to illustrate quite clearly that the number of chances is the issue, not so much the number on-target that go in.
