The patch will have a new database including the latest updates and fixes. I think you'll find that most people wi want to have that database. (because its newer and better..). It might be worth to wait for it yourself as well.

Why don't you send your african data to SI so that it could possibly be added to the patch ?

From what I remember the names are stored in the database seperately.. In a previous FM you had to add names first and assign them to a nationality. Unfortunately the current editor only lets you edit players, teams, etc. not names.

I think it's a case of wait for the new editor.

In the older version you had to add a new surname and forename (if they are not already there), tell the database how common these names are in which country, then create player with the name.

I fancy doing something similar to what you are doing because I find it really interesting researching new clubs and players. However I'm going to wait until the patch comes out because I think that once the patch comes with a better editor and updated database then it'll be better received.

It might be a good idea to post the information you find in the data forum, I don't see why some of it couldn't be added to the official DB (not saying it would be in time for the patch, but future patches/versions if not).

I will certainly consider that, but I'd have to sort my work to eliminate those "non-soccer" players that are in there just for the sake of adding a name to the mix. Also, many of them have no position set, nor age, as a lot of what I find basically just lists the names of the players.
Maybe you could just post about the name problem, it could go in the bug or data forum I guess. There might be a way they can add the names in without adding players, or change something so that more realistic names are chosen.
