Default using the 7.0.1. database or any new one on fm2007

greetings everyone,

i'm new here so i want to apologize for starting out with a big topic. i have a question about a particular issue, that i think many might be experiencing as well..it is as follows:

i install the 7.0.1 patch/update, everything goes well, but when i run the game, the information is that it's still running 7.0, and database wise, nothing has changed.

i then proceed to edit the data a little bit with the editor, and save it. well, not only does the original/default database can't be overwriten (it could in FM2006), i can't seem to find a way to use whatever new database i just saved either.

could someone please shed some light over this? i like to play with updated roosters, etc, and it's really a deal breaker for me, i'm even considering taking the game back if it won't allow me to play with my own saved database.

i've tried pretty much everything. erasing all files from the "DB" briefcase on the main FM2007 directory, and planting there the 7.0.1 database for example, which makes the game crash. i've tried substituting little files i thought might have the transfer/data updates i did within the original database directory, still no good.

the editor makes a new file everytime you edit something. for instance, if i edit the original database, the changes won't be saved there, but on another file which, again, i can't make use of.

any help is very much apreciated.

thanks in advance!

Try reinstalling everything. And also using the default folders etc. while installing.
In my game, when starting a new game, it lets me choose qhich database to use.
Try also dowloadin the patch again.
Good luck mate!

After you update to 7.0.1, or make a new database in the fm editor, when you click start new game, a menu will pop up asking you which datebase you want to use.

If you are using a pirated copy of the game or a no-cd crack then when you start a new game it will always use the original db.

Im sorry but i belive everybody that has this problem are using a pirated copy or a no-cd crack, as i have 9 friends all with the original copy and ours works fine the db menu appears when we click start new game.

I had two friends who downloaded a copy of the game and they were unable to use update's or new databases. they have since bought the original.

So i suggest you buy the original or don't use a no-cd crack.

This is a common topic on this site and i cant help but think that people who have this problem are using a copy or no-cd crack as everybody i know with the original have never had any problem's.

i think this has to be some sort of bug, cause from the moment i start editing the 7.0.1 database, the game doesn't let me choose which database i want to play with.

further more, it won't let me choose the 7.0.1 database ever, when it has none other than those two in the db folder, it automatically assumes the default one.

i'll be reporting this to the bugs forum, and if it's not corrected on the 7.0.2 patch, i'll def. return the game. one would think that these things should, if at all, happen to people that didn't have the legitimate game..

thanks for the reply btw!

well, with all due respect i resent that acusation. your conclusions are not accurate at all, as i've bought the overpriced bug filled and not ready to distribute game with my money. the little window with the database choice does indeed pop up, the trouble is, when the also bugged update patch is installed, it simply stops appearing. and that is not right now, is it?

Well you have just stated there that when you start a new game it automaticly assumes the default db.

I apologise, i was speaking from my expierence with this problem that whenever this happens it's because somebody is using a copied game or a no-cd patch.

When me and 9 other people all play this game and edit our own databases to play this game, and have never come across this problem with our original game's and the cd in the drive.

And i have only seen this problem when somebody is using one of the methods i mentioned, i find it hard to belive that this is happening when using the original disc.

I know there are alot of bugs that still need worked out, you could just be unlucky and have faulty disc.

There are fixes for this problem you speak of, if you google you should find what your looking for.

sorry i apologise i miss read your last post. forget about my first line.

It may be that the patch is causing your problems i know people who have had the same similar problems, after updating to 7.0.1.

Like i said if you look up on this issue you should be able to find a fix that will allow you to change db while having 7.0.1 installed.

no need for apologies. I realize it's easier to assume i have a cracked copy, especially these days with all the piracy, etc, no worries.

could you please lead me towards the solution of the problem? i've had no luck goggling it.

thanks in advance!
