It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default 442 diamond formation - getting the best out of the am position?

I plan on using a 442 diamond(changing between narrow and wide) for a game I'm about to start. However, when I've used these formations in the past, my attacking midfielder pretty much never touched the ball and all my players passed the ball back to my defensive midfielder(he wasn't listed as a playmaker). I've tried adding my am as a playmaker and targetman or just a playmaker or targetman, none of these changes seem to give my attacking midfielder more possesion.

So.... any suggestions? I want my attacking midfielder to dictate the tempo of the game(the ones I use have this trait listed) and employ short passing.

Putting a farrow into an empty striker spot, for example in my tactics where I have one striker in the center of the pitch and one to the left, putting a farrow to the right striker area, allows the AM to play a big part in the attacking role and has let my AM, Vela has scored many goals and help my offense heavily, even at the ripe age of 17 I find this works well and he gets on the scoresheet.

Other than that, you can refer to my tactic which I have found gives the AM good playing area and attacking positions, etc. Good luck :]

Link to my thread if your lazy

If you aren't interested in the thread I at least recommend you take a look at the AM settings to try to mirror it =]

I almost never use formations with AM because he becomes impotent. For weaker teams who don't have players like Kaka,Ballack or Mutu playmakers don't get involved in the game.I played 4-4-2 diamond with Manchester,I think FB's and DM are stronger in this formation my AM (Scholes,Pancu) scored goals from long shots or free kicks and other nothing.Try the farrow of deadlydevices it's interesting advice.
