why should any1 not use through balls? Im my opinion, its the only way to get the strikers going and create chances. Even when i have quite slow forwards and have through balls as common, they (forwards) always seem to get through the defence and have a one on one! So wen is having through balls a bad thing?
------------------------------------------------------- Also, im manager of Chesterfield currently and i wanna know how to have it so i can set a certain player to play 90 mins in the reserve team game so they become match fit for the senior team? ty.
Chesterfield... good choice I love playing with them!
The drawback of a through-ball is that if a player has a low passing attribute he may be more likely to give the ball away.
There's no option to send a player to the reserves for 90 minutes - you have to do it manually. Relegated to reserves, then promote again once he's played. However, there is of course no guarantee the AM will pick him!
No guarentees on picking a player, unfortunately, unless you take control of the reserves. However, the ass man generally picks the best available team, so if the player is better than most of the reserves, chances are he'll play, regardless of fitness and whatnot.
As for through balls, I think the latest word on the street is you should have them set to often on everyone for v. attacking tactics. However, the obvious downside is that through balls are easier to intercept and are less accurate than short simple passes. Depends what kind of risks you're willing/able to take.
I think giving certain players through balls can be negative.
For example, setting a player like shevechenko to try through balls often may cause him to drop deeper and attempt to play in his partner striker. Wheras without he will be more concentrating on getting onto passes himself.
However a player like Rooney would be beneftied greatly as he could come deep and play in his partner and run at defenders just like in real life but this only works because he has the right stats to do this.
I may be wrong about this though. Anyone else agree?

With my old tactic with my FB villa side i had everyone apart from 2 CM's, 2 wingers and my lone ST(would all be on mixed) on TTB's rarely - the thinking being keep the ball until a good chance arose to play someone in
