It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

And what should my defensive line be? Thanksfor the advice?
Well i always have my DC's on ultra defensive. Full backs, depends on my team. i'm currently Gillingham, who aren't very goo tbh so my fullbacks are also ultra defensive, you should never put it above normal in any case.

DMC same applies. I usually have him just a few ticks below "normal" though sometimes in big games with dangerous midfeilders i might set it to defensvie.Though never all the way! Just try and see what works for you. Ultra Defensive is a definite no-no for a DMC though

How can you stop conceding goal from outside the box without upping closing down and getting players dragged out of position?

Also I seem to concede an awful lot of goals from weak clearences by my defenders, how do I improve without setting them to direct / long passing as i don't want then to 'hoof' the ball up field when they have time on the ball, only when under pressure?
How to do I defend against general crosses?
And finally... how the hell to I get more of my chances converted by both strikers and midfielders?
what are your keepers positioning and reflex stats?
in general, too many long shots = need for a new keeper, with better positioning, anticipation and refexes.
To defend against crosses give your fullbacks an individual instruction to mark the wingers (show onto weaker foot if necessary.) also don't allow them, your fullbacks to make too many forward runs.
Scoring chances is simply down to your striker combination. Get it right, and goals should follow. between your two strikers at least one should have excellent teamwork & workrate, one should be good in the air and one of them has to have some sort of pace.
Stats for consistent goalscorers - finishing, composure, off the ball and decisions. A fair bit of pace wouldn't hurt either, as well as good technique...

Stats for my GK are positioning 16 and reflexes 18 and anticipation 16. Conisdering im in the championship with Leeds I think that he should be ok.

hmm...thats a bit of a strage one then. Perhaps your defence simply arent good enough, or maybe its got something to do with that "closing dwon, bug" everyone keeps talkin about. Further still, there might notbe a problem at all! every team concedes screamers once n a while. How many are we talking, approximately?

Only other thing i wud suggest is to instruct one of your players to specifically mark the offending opposition player.
