This is the first time I have posted a tactic, mainly because I usually just download other people's for a quick fix. But this time I really wanted to make my own as you always get a greater sense of achievement when it's your own tactic that's won you the league. Right, now onto the tactic itself.
It's called Sean's 4-1-3-2 Domination because it gives you just that, Domination. The basic shape is as it says in the name, a 4-1-3-2 with 1 central midfielder, one AMR, one AMC and one AML, no arrows anywhere.
I made this tactic to keep possession while attacking, scoring as many goals as possible without sacrificing possession. After hours and hours of testing and adjusting, I seem to have found the right balance in the team instructions. Then I had to get the right player instructions for each position. I started from the back and decided I wanted my keeper to basically do his job, keep goals out, so I set him to ultra defensive, no creative freedom, no forward runs, no through balls etc...
The defense is set up to defend, and when they have the ball, not to be fancy and just get it into midfield as quickly as possible. Full backs are set up to join the attack, crossing often from deep.
The central midfielder is possibly the most important position. He's the one who looks to get the ball and play an incisive through pass, but to also do his bit defensively. A Fabregas or Pirlo style player would be best here.
Wingers are there to take the ball to the byline and put in a cross, nothing else. I just wanted my wingers to do what they do best, cross cross cross!
The AMC is there to link the rest of the team to the attackers, with an attacking mentality and through balls to often. During testing I found this player needs good long shots aswell, as he seems to find himself with space outside the box quite often.
I decided not to go for a little 'n' large partnership up front as I prefer 2 all rounders. Decent heading and pace should suffice here, and obviously finishing.
Right I have rambled enough and I'm sure you just wanna try it out, so heres the link:
i tested it with arsenal, newcastle, real madrid and southampton. arsenal i won the league with minimal effort, finished 2nd with newcastle and won fa cup, won everything with ease at real and obviously the southampton one is going well
That record with Southampton is impressive in my book. OK prior to the season starting i would have tipped Sothampton to get promotion but it's easier said than done - look at Sheff Utd also. But even if a team does well they still could not expect a 100% record home and away after 12 games.
What i don't understand and i haven't tried the tactic yet, how do you achieve that with one tactic?
FM has evolved a lot and it is not really possible anymore to simply use one tactic without any tweaking.
What happened when your opponents changed to 4-2-4? What happens when teams play more defensively? I would in fact prefer to use 'one' tactic but i don't believe the game will let us anymore and i'm sceptical when people claim otherwise.
