I alos noticed that about DM's. And to those who say Flamini can't cut it at Arsenal in game are very very wrong. He's replaced Gilberto in my game, him and Fab are producing a brilliant partnership, just like IRL. Fabregas is actually very good in game but you can't see that unless you take a look at the stats!

Ye i noticed that the ratings are a tad wrong. I signed jose sosa and he created umpteen chances for me in every game but barely rated above a 6. Also If you score a goal your almost certainly guaranteed to get an 8, irrespective of the players performance.

Any word on Merida being a decent replacement ?

Wrong. Although I can't get my DM's working well at the moment, I had Daniele De Rossi on an old game and he had a huge average rating, as well as Premiership player of the year, and placing second in World Footballer of the year.

... and it seems if they give away a penalty it automatically drops to a 5 too, also irrespective of the player's overall performance.

I think he's definitely overrated - the one thing you're expecting from Fabregas is assists. For my Arsenal side he scored 1 goal with 5 assists in 34 Premiership games. Then I bought Van der Vaart who has 4 goals and 3 assists in his first 10 games. So it looks like Van der Vaart will trash Fabregas by the end of the season.

Fabregas is still a good player to have in the game, a great squad player. But then if you're getting bids of £48m for him, I don't see any reason not to sell him - presuming you need the money.
